Onboard Safety
What safety related gear do you carry onboard?
|
Beyond the requisite life jackets, first aid kit, extinguishers, flares, VHF, GPS, searchlight and charts, nothing.
I don't go offshore so I don't feel the need for a life raft or an EPIRB. If I did, those would be the top items on my Christmas wish list. But then, our boat is only 22 ft long. How far could I go? |
you mean besides my first-aide kit. The Orion signal flare kit. 3 fire extinguishers. a small carry on tool box and a small bag with a handheld VHF and GPS and some warm cloths just incase all hell breaks loose?
Um.......just a cooler of drinks to makes all my worries dissapear! :D |
Always, first aid, spot light, 1qt oil,1qt drive oil, $20,tool kit,Jumper cables, extra Tshirt/tevas, All items are permanent fixtures of boat.;)

Besides the standard CG required regiment(life preservers, fire extinguisher, flares, air horn, throwable floation)
:) |
Hmmmm.
Everyone forgot one of the most important items you can carry.
A good strong tow rope. Preferably one that has a bridle that can attach to the transom eyes. You never want to tow from the ski cleat. (carry a very sharp knife in case you have to cut the tow line.) Something else you should have is a wind anchor so that if your adrift it will slow you down. |
Pretty much the same stuff as everyone else has listed, but I also carry a second set of ground tackle. (Fortress anchors are nice an light, and work well in the bottom around here.) If you've ever been adrift where there are strong currents and shipping lanes, you'll know why.....
