Just a point of information here.....HORBA will not be involved with this Bimini race in 2009..... and the Don Aronow name will not be used for this 2009 race either.

We feel that there is an authentic desire for real open ocean racing again, and the HORBA Board and members have put together our own racing plan for 2010 and beyond...more info on the HORBA site.

That's really too bad, the race was a great time and a great tribute. This always happens, a race or an even is a success and then the group splits either over a money issue or power struggle. Look what's going on with OSS and the worlds.
It was cool that it was the Aronow race. I'm sure it will be just as good with another name. I know it will be a much bigger turn out since it was such a great success. I know Mercedes said they wanted to talk about being the premiere sponsor of next years. I will certainly do it again, at least to defend if not break our record. This race went so well because of the terrific location, the cause, and the terrific job Larry, Brad and the others did. i think trying to top this or duplicate this is going to be a very difficult feat. AMAZING - one single race and I am already getting the impression that a small war is brewing. WTF is wrong with you people that you can't run this like a business for the people WHO REALLY WANT TO BE INVOLVED and get past internal issues - instead, it appears to be breaking into 2 separate clubs, fighting. Nobody wins like this.
