Illinois River Closed!
The Coast Guard has closed the Illinois River between Henry and Liverpool. Over 100 miles in length. The river level is typically 12 ft. Flood stage is 18 ft. Thanks to the remnants of Ike going right over the top of us the river will crest around 27 ft in two days! We had so much rain our driveway was washed out.
Great weather this weekend - all ramps are under water.

Its just the opposite here. Our river is going down fast. Flood stage is 29 ft and 15-17 ft is normal for the Summer navigation. Its at 13 ft and dropping. Most of the marina ramps don't go deep enough to launch.

Edging toward downtown. The river is expected to crest at 27.2 feet tomorrow. In the picture the train tracks run along the river, which is to the left.

Liverpool is a small town right near Havana, Il that I believe is around 35-40 miles south of Peoria/Pekin. We have launched in Havana since I was a kid. Worse even yet is another 10-20 miles south near Beardstown, IL that has massive flooding every time we experience these issues. Several friends that farm these bottom grounds deal with this on a regular basis. Sucks!!!! We are talking hundreds of thousands of acres that will be worthless, enough to bury the farmers financially.

Friend of mine slips at Eastport Marina in Peoria. The water is up into the parking lots. He stated that the Coasties told him you can go out on the river but at a no wake only speed. I had a river run planned 10/5 from Peoria to Starved Rock and back. Hopefully she's back down low enough by then to make the trip. Frequency, come on down to Clinton Lake. Dock 3 will be out in force both days this weekend.
