No Wake No Problem!

I took this picture last weekend at the lake in Naples Maine. That is the ramp behind the sign.
Looks like there might be trouble in the spring if we don’t get some rain.
Any one know a good rain dance?

MitchStellin 03-06-2002 07:45 PM

There are a few ramps around here that are high and dry also. I was at the water today and was amazed at the level. It is another 2 feet below last fall. We are in serious trouble. They keep extending the cement pads to keep the ramps alive but they cannot keep up. Every year it is worse. There is a lake in Muskegon that used to open into Lake MI. The water is so low it is now closed off. Major $$$$ homes and boats are stuck in a small lake now (puddle). They want the Corp of Eng to dredge but since it is not a real port they won't do it. It will need to rain like never before or it will only get worse.

Liquid,

I think it was like 4 years ago I was down there and you guys where in a severe drought and the lakes where like 25 ft low. Have they ever fully recovered?

enticer 03-06-2002 09:20 PM

There is a large lake in central PA and it is down 11 ft...the Corp of Engineer's say if it drops one more foot....no power boating this summer. And no rain is site :(:(

B.R.S. 03-06-2002 10:03 PM

U.S. Geological survey says the Great Lakes will drop another 18" by summer. Lexington harbor on Lake Huron will be impassable.

MitchStellin 03-06-2002 10:09 PM

Another 18 inches and we are in very serious trouble. I hope they are wrong. That would close alot of Marinas, launches, raise slip fees and really hurt the business. Not good.

Ussually a great ramp!!!! Last summer I had to put one axle off the end of the ramp to get the boat on. Looks like this year is going to be worse!!!!! Better get those damn locks closed!!!!!! Tree Huggin hippies!!!!

Audiofn 03-07-2002 10:31 AM

Hey Ken next time you are up there you see that rock... you know the one next to the fuel dock. Why don't you grab that thing and get it out of there before I ruin another prop on it!!!!

formuladude312 03-07-2002 11:58 AM

Hey Ken, Its jeff from naples marina you know the one with the 87 240 sport rose/burgandy baja looks like they will have to wheel the queen over to the long lake side to get it to float, the water level down the river where you and kurt are cant be looking good either. Jim from the marina says that they are going to be closing the lockes to start keeping the water up on our end instead of sending it down to sebago. talk to you soon, Jeff

ken240 03-07-2002 01:22 PM

May we should all go drinking down by the locks to help out sebago.::p :p :D

Yes I do remember now. The one in RELAY NICE Shape!!

Audio,
They did actually pull the stump, (rock), whatever it was, from the fuel dock. Now they need to get the stump from over by the raft.
