Career advice
About a month ago my wife and I relocated to Fort Lauderdale from Northern Virginia(good part). The reason for our relocation was because my wife received a promotion that required relocation. Unfortunately I wasnt' able to stay with my company(bad part). As it is for most people here boating and just being near the water has always been one of my passions and I decided I want to make a career out of it. Being that there are alot of people here from alot of different backgrounds I was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to get started somewhere in the Marine industry. I realize I'm in a different market and at and very entry level. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Go sell boats....you will be on the water alot doing demo rides....might even get a free boat to use on your days off....

My advice is never turn your hobby into your job. It won't be fun anymore.

I turned my passion into a business and did very well. Every morning I got up and raced to get to the "office" b/c it wasn't like working. I disagree guys

Boating is my passion, and also how I make my living. Too many people work in fields that they hate and care nothing about. I've been fortunate that during my entire life, I've been able to make a living doing something I genuinely enjoy. -Kurt :ernaehrung004: |
I partially agree...
I've been in the boat business since 1971 and it's been great. I love going to work and I'm happy to say I'm enjoying some success. I have paid my dues, however.
What I've noticed is: my spare time is more enjoyable for me if I'm away from boats. Good Luck in whichever way you choose. |
