Career advice

About a month ago my wife and I relocated to Fort Lauderdale from Northern Virginia(good part). The reason for our relocation was because my wife received a promotion that required relocation. Unfortunately I wasnt' able to stay with my company(bad part). As it is for most people here boating and just being near the water has always been one of my passions and I decided I want to make a career out of it. Being that there are alot of people here from alot of different backgrounds I was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to get started somewhere in the Marine industry. I realize I'm in a different market and at and very entry level. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Go sell boats....you will be on the water alot doing demo rides....might even get a free boat to use on your days off....

My advice is never turn your hobby into your job. It won't be fun anymore.

Did that. By the end of the first season I was considering selling my boat.

I turned my passion into a business and did very well. Every morning I got up and raced to get to the "office" b/c it wasn't like working. I disagree guys

I disagree, If you really are a hard core boat nut that's absolutely consumed with this addiction :drink: You will do just fine.

Boating is my passion, and also how I make my living. Too many people work in fields that they hate and care nothing about. I've been fortunate that during my entire life, I've been able to make a living doing something I genuinely enjoy.

I partially agree...

I've been in the boat business since 1971 and it's been great. I love going to work and I'm happy to say I'm enjoying some success. I have paid my dues, however.

What I've noticed is: my spare time is more enjoyable for me if I'm away from boats.

Good Luck in whichever way you choose.
