My 292 has 530 hrs on a pair of 350 mags and use nothing but VR1 40W.
I had a relief spring in the oil pump crap out on starboard engine this year at 510hrs and while motor was out I took a look at the lower end and everything looked fantasic.
Cyl walls, rod and crank bearings all looked great. Just through a new set of rod and main bearings in since we were there anyway and put her back in and runs like a champ again.
I also change the oil every 30 hrs to so that might have something to do with it also.

Not synthetic but has more detergents then most oils these days, I am running it and have had no issues, i was having cam issues before (flat tappet) wiped out two this season on new engines, may have been other things also but this time I have 2 new cams and no problems! I use the 20-50
