otis311 03-07-2002 11:52 AM

Do you think we would hold paper on my bid seeing that im a HUGE fan of the yankees and he was one of my all time favorite Yankees and that i am just as big a fan of Outerlimits ???

Tino, Call me , we can talk LOL

CigDaze 03-07-2002 11:58 AM

HOLY CHIT!!!

I know that boat! I see it all the time In fact, the pictures were taken at my marina. If you look at the last picture(The one of the Transon saying OuterLimits Incognito) You can see my boat up in the racks in the shadows. Of all the times, I've seen him I didn't even know who he was.

Chris288 03-07-2002 12:03 PM

Tino Was and still is the BEST...

The Yankees got some grease-ball error prone fat-ass and gave up on heart and soul.. shame on them..

Niuhi 03-07-2002 12:12 PM

Yeah well don't forget who's team he was on first. :p

Dean Ferry 03-07-2002 12:27 PM

Nick,
What do you know about the boat? What year is it? Does it have a trailer?
The ad says it has a reserve, I can't find out what amount it is? I'm VERY interested in this boat, BUT I have NEVER bought anything off Ebay before! Guys, can you help a buddy out here?

CigDaze 03-07-2002 12:38 PM

Dean,

The boat is Rack stored(on the very rack you see in the pics == Outside). I have never seen it on a trailer...nor is there a trailer of adequate size and design at the marina's trailer storage yard that I can see. I don't know the year, but I can look at the HIN this weekend to find out(The last two digits of the year should be in there somewhere, right?).

If I had to guess, I would date it 4-5 years old. The boat has been there since I became a marina member in Spring 2000 and at that time, I would have said 2-3 years old. The boat probably has the low hours indicated on e-bay as I have rarely seen the boat used. Perhaps a handful of times in 2 years.

If you want more pics or anything, let me know. I'll be there this weekend.

As far as e-bay goes, I have never bought anything over 200 bucks. But all my transactions have gone smoothly.

CigDaze 03-07-2002 12:43 PM

BTW, the seller, rivett, has a great rating with 500+ Praising feedbacks. It appears that he specializes in sporting goods and memorabilia. He has had multiple Tino Martinez stuff sold in the past.

Any bid over $15000 requires verification of the bidder and all winning bids are legally binding contracts.

Chris288 03-07-2002 01:03 PM

I too wonder what the reserve is ??

I can't imagine with all the money Tino has, that he would need to get caught up in the sale of this boat ??. Anyway, would be nice to see some pics of the cock-pit ??? and maybe an overall ?

Dean Ferry 03-07-2002 01:07 PM

Nick,
That would be REAL COOL if you could Fly a Recon. Mission past that bad boy this weekend!! Pics would get you any ADULT BEVERAGE from our TIKI BAR!!! I'm going to be out of town next week, on business and looking at another boat, I'll try to log in sometime next week.
Thanks,
MD

apatently his new contract doens;t allow him to drive a fast boat. Safety concern by the new team. Theyt woudl hate to have him eat it and not be abel to play. So he has to sell or let it sit.

Those are definatly soem pictures of him on the boat. And the listing says

", THE WINNING BIDDER, TINO WILL SIGN HIS SIGNATURE ON THE BOAT, AND MEET WITH THE BUYER PERSONALLY, HE WILL ALSO GIVE SOME PERSONAL BASEBALL ITEMS USED BY HIM IN GAMES. "

CigDaze 03-07-2002 01:09 PM

You got it, bro!

DJD 03-07-2002 05:09 PM

That boat is worth over $150,000. Probably the $160-175000 range.
I'll bet there is a minimum of at least $100-120,000

Sean 03-07-2002 06:26 PM

That would be a pretty cool boat to own...if it were a Cigarette!:D :D :D

Dean Ferry 03-08-2002 09:24 AM

But even a $100,000-120,000 range, depending on condition, it would still be a good deal. IMHO!

TomFTM 03-08-2002 09:36 AM

Come on Dean, take the credit card out and place the BID, I can see it now we'll have our OL's tied up in the Indian River next winter......... Having a few cocktails....... Tom

Dean Ferry 03-08-2002 09:53 AM

Tom,
Depending on what happens next week, I might just do that!!:D
The HQ has "Approved" the first boat, I'll have to resubmit my authorization form for Tino's OL. Baja Daze to going to get me some data this weekend, and next week could be a real INTERESTING week!!

** OuterLimits Report **

Dean, 32fever, others:

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but here goes.
I did not see the boat and therefore I was unable to obtain additional photos. They had moved the boat to somewhere in Tampa so that nobody would be looking at it too closely. I did, however, get a chance to ask around and get feedback from a few individuals who were knowledgable regarding this boat. Bottom line: You don't want this boat unless you know upfront that there will be a lot of work involved. It would have to be one hell of a deal. The boat, in simple terms, was used and abused and was maintained like a long-distance relationship. It was rarely, if ever, kept under full cover, and had the hot Florida sun beating down on it for years. The boat had also been filled up with water multiple times and the depth was quoted in feet, not inches. In the words of the operations supervisor and current marina manager he "Would not allow anybody he considered a friend buy that boat." It was basically, run until it broke...fixed...then run until it broke again...

Chris288 03-12-2002 08:12 AM

That would explain the LACK of interior pics....

What a shame... all that money and no commonsense... :(

32fever 03-12-2002 09:40 AM

Thanks Nick!!!!!

I got more pics on it and well, one thing I noticed is the steering wheel looks like it was what the mechanics used to wipe their hands off after working an 8 hour day:) Other than that, it didn't look too bad from the pics. My wife wasn't really keen on it. I see it has been bid up to $125k now, which, if it needs all that work, probably isn't that good of a deal anymore (it's a 1997). I know of others for sale for more, but have trailers, too and would probably be a much better deal to just turn the key and run.

But thanks again Bajadaze....hmmmm, I wonder who will wind up with it. If it's an OSO member, they'll have to fill us in.

MegaByte*3 03-13-2002 03:46 PM

timewarp:

Sorry for the delay in answering you, I've been busy trying to make a living ...

I sent the seller an email expressing my interest in the boat and asking for more specific details. He responded with answers to my questions and the reserve price. He did not indicate any reluctance to having the boat surveyed, nor for me to fly down for an inspection. Perhaps he is unaware of the maintenance and use / abuse issues discussed above.
