2004 42 legacy

I'm looking at a 2004 42 legacy with trip 525's and just over 100 hrs. What is a decent price? Thanks for any advice.

Spicy 09-25-2008 01:04 PM

Here is two of them from 299-399K, one with no price..

Triple engine boats from what I've seen are getting top dollar these days...

This is a close friend of mines boat and it hasn't been in the water in 2 summers. He gets the oil changed everything checked out and then back in the shop. He's open to offers but nothing stupid the guy doesn't need the money. He plays with his MTI or is out on the waverunners most of the time.

My buddy here in NJ has one for sale.... I'm thinking you're looking at the same boat??? 2004, Epoxy, engines rebuilt, headers, new upholstery???? The boat was barely used this year after having all the work done last winter.

This boat is a 10, no dissapointments! If you need more info. let me know, I might be able to help; http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o25890-en.html

Panther, I agree it's a nice boat.....BUT!!!!! let's us look at both boats. The Orange boat I have for sale, asking price $299,900.00, only 50 total hours, epoxy boat, loaded with Myco trailer with Drive gaurd........The other boat, the guy wants $365,000.00 for it, it has over 200 hours, It has a Myco trailer. Mine is $65,000.00 less and I will come off the price of the one I have for sale???????? Both are very beautiful boats.

Thunder ct 09-27-2008 07:35 PM

Panther how many total hours are on your friends boat?

gregsweeney 09-28-2008 09:40 AM

Blume would something in the 270k range work for your man? I assume the boat is salt water but could you confirm . Thanks.

Not wanting to pick apart here, but one has to wonder if the boat is a 10, why did it need rebuild, new headers, and new upholstery????? The boat was only 4 years old??:evilb:

it is a fresh water boat used on lake texoma since 2005, I think Outerlimits used it in the brochure? Greg, I think your getting real close?? I think it will come down to low or high 270k?? But thats just my guess.

The owner is very anal with his boat and wants it in new condition every year. This boat is perfect.

blume 09-28-2008 12:42 PM

Anal, everybody is Anal these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Orange boat has only 48 total hours on it, it is kept in a heated building along with his 39' MTI with Merc. 850's, motorcycles and hot rods. It is in very good original condition. And priced at $299,900.00 and the other boat in question, the seller told me it would take $365,000.00 to buy it. If you like Orange, this is a good boat for you? If you like blue it will cost you over $65,000.00 more? There is also a red one for $399,000.00, so that one if you like red will be over $100,000.00 more????

The Orange one (48 hours) $299,900.00....................The Blue one (over 200 total hull hours, 25 since rebuilds) $365,000.00......................The Red one (180 Hours) $399,000.00???????????????????????? THERE ALL 2004 42' LEGACY'S WITH TRIPLE MERC. 525'S.

beertruck 09-28-2008 01:51 PM

not looking for a boat myself, but the orange one seems to be a great deal. What kind of speed is it capable of with the triple 525 set up.

Not sure about hull hours but the the blue boat but I know it has 25 hours on the drive train, 2008 OL interior and updated paint along with new cockpit carpet.

Depends how you look at it I suppose..... Some boats may have 50 hours but they were barely used since 2004 and for me that's a red flag because as boats sit they fall apart. Boats need to be used!

The engines didn't need to be rebuilt and the owner wanted everything new on the boat. The headers...just ask CMI about headers on 525's.... Upholstery, they wanted 2008 interior and were able to shave something like 2-300 lbs. of excess weight with the old interior, plus the owners son bought it for the father as a gift. All the rigging in the engine room was also replaced on this boat to make it look perfect... New anodized washers, new bolts, screws etc... New OL fabricated diamand plate so it's easier to walk around in the engine room etc. The boat also won best graphics at the Tri State Poker Run. The Myco Trailer was also painted recently, even though I don't think it had to be...but as JC said, they are anal.

Like I said earlier, there are no dissapontments on the boat and I'll put my reputation on it.... If someone looks at it and thinks it's a junk pail then I'd like to know about it, the only reason it's being sold is they want to move up. If it's not sold over the winter they'll keep running it!

* 48 hours since 2004, and not used for 2 years is a red flag for me... boats that sit for long periods of time are prone to having problems in my experience.

* 200 hrs on the hull maybe, 25 hrs on drivetrain, 2008 OL Upholstery with significant weight savings. Cost to do all this work from OL?????

I've got an idea, sell yours first!!!! Also, I'm not selling any of these boats and I don't stand to make a dime on any of it!

Lets let buyers make the decision for themselves!

Always a challenge to decide to hold out for your asking price or sell for what people in the market are willing to pay. I bout the orange 42 a year later from these posts for 175k with trailer. FYI it was a 10 in condition and needed no work other than belts impellers and tires on the trailer
