Can't deal with crouching down in a MCOB. Want a real marine head with holding tank but max 8-6 beam in something sporty with a 300+ mile range and under 32ft.
Used and under $150k? Want to tow it to various locations including Fl keys, take Bahama trips, Powell, Mead, Havasu but also want to drag it down into Baja for use on sea of cortez.
Seems most boats we like are too wide (i guess for fishing stability) to legally tow without permits and definitely too wide to tow down to mexico. We don't really fish, just like to boat, swim, snorkel.
(My prior boats have been 19 Daytona and 21 Schiada, never had a 'big' boat so total newbee looking for offshore-ish boats). Any ideas or am i looking for a unicorn?
If I didn't want to tow it around, I'd get an Intepid 327 cuddy for some idea of what we like.

IME you won’t get hassled for something up to 9’6”. Technically you could I suppose.

If you’re going inboard, sounds like 496s are what you’d want.

I was YOU exactly one year ago...retiring, fixed head, offshore (Perdido Key, Fl.), trailer-able, etc... Ideally I wanted twin (or more) outboards but ended up with a Formula 311 SR-1 (although its pretty big/heavy to tow regularly).

Interesting thread to bring back. I remember this one from back in the day.

Maybe this would tickle your fancy...
Low maintenance, outboards are better for going into unknown waters as you can always tilt them up and idle out of shallow spots, enclosed head, more room than a MCOB, and no crouching.

Velocity 290sc, I hauled mine from Louisiana to Vermont with a half ton truck no problem, they weigh less then 5,000lbs. With your budget you are almost at the price of a new one, and there are plenty of used ones out there!
