craig has more experience than anyone in the business. he was with merc racing back in the day when the six drive was first developed. plus his pricing is worth shipping to him.

Is he the one that does the bluprinting on the skegs,or subs it out?

skaterdave 09-30-2008 05:47 PM

skegs

don't think craig does that. i thought herring was doing it but don't know now that he's been bought out.
don't know if that even worth it unless racing supercat or something like that.
either way craig would know where to go, he knows almost everybody in the racing world.

like beckley said, craig fixes alot of these things for alot of other people.
i don't think anybody even comes close to how long craig has been doing drives.
wow craig must be really old!!!

Mark Wilson, who is on the board, does the skeg blueprinting as does Herring.

How big of a job is it to convert a wet sump to dry? If one was wanting dry sump drives is it feasible to do the conversion (if you don't have 6's at all) or just look for dry sump 6's. Just asking because I've seen wet sumps for sale much cheaper than dry......

I think its well worth it.If you dont have wet sumps allready it just depends on the market.Just depends on other work needed on the used drives.Randy had totally rebuilt my drives,bearings,gears,seals,U-joints,some shafts the year before. The conversion cost 12K with the converted skigs. Randy with Marine Drives has been around since the 80s or earlier.
