130 Plus single engine Cat

3 Attachment(s)
I finally got my Revolution Performance Marine over that 130mph hurtle thanks to all parties involved Steve Tripp for the Awsome boat, Gary Taylor (TPI) Bad A$$ 5.0L, and Arron, and Jason Max Machine Worx which none of this would have ever been possible. After all is said and done, I really feel that there is not another small cat out there that can carry the speed this cat does, very stable @ 132 feels the same as 90, anybody can drive it, and it really handles rough water well.

I can tell you now, with a little more tuning and a larger custom prop, you will see this boat run over 140mph, I can promise you. This took alot of homework, but with the RPM, TPI, and MMW drive you can't beat the speed, handling, ride that this boat gives...Thanks again Guys:drink:

Congrats. Boat looks great.

Perlmudder 10-07-2008 06:57 PM

thats haulin and the boats looks kick ass!! i like how its a 140 mph speedo and you are hitting 130. its a pet peeve of mine when people have 140 mph speedos and their boats only go 90. for some reason it just bugs me!

Ptufaro 10-07-2008 08:16 PM

That boat looks awsome!

Jeff(26 Redine),

First of all I think it is very cool of you to take your time and pump up the parties involved with your boat. Secondly, always remember that there are faster boats than yours(there will always be). With that being said I would just like to say that I have driven this particular boat for miles on end over 120 mph and it is unbelievably stable/smooth, seriously. So not only is it fast, it does it well and easy. It may go faster some day,,,,,maybe not,,,,,who knows,,,, but I can feel your enthusiasm Jeff, and I think it's cool that you are sharing it with the boards. I think everyone on these boards sees that your humble and just sharing something cool and not tooting your horn. That is a fine line to walk on the forums. Blah Blah Blah..............Have fun and be careful. By the way, it was 100 degrees here in CA TODAY..............UNREAL FOR OCTOBER.

MAN, I ONLY HAVE 67 POSTS IN 6 YEARS...................

Gary,
I must say you have been involved in some awesome projects over the last few years and no one has anything but praises for your work. Your small production attention to detail mindset has worked just the way it is supposed to. Congrats on some outstanding accomplishments recently and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future.

I actually met you a few years ago, I work for Eric over at Maveric Marine, or I do until the end of this week anyway. I have nothing but respect for Eric and the way he runs his shop and will be back to work for him in the future but I have an opportunity I need to take advantage of right now. I live in Thousand Oaks and will be here through the end of the week, if you have time I would love to buy you a beer and maybe check your shop out.

You know, I spent all day tuning that RPM on pump gas and I would have to think it is near 1050 or so(never dynoed it). It has a TON left to go on 93 octane or better. It is just a *****cat tuned on 91 octane where it is now. It is a 540 cubic in hyd roller set up with nothing real special going on except efficiency.

You know what, You would be bored with my shop before your beer was done. There is not a whole bunch to it. SUPER clean and up to date, with a couple 5 liter Whipple motors here and there,,,,,,,,,,,,,thats about it. I just try and give the customers what they ask for...........it seems pretty straight forward. If I cannot do it, I tell them, If I can, I do it,,,,,,,Honesty goes a long way in this industry IMO. Seems like a pretty easy way to do business,,,,,,,,,,

Very impressive. Boat looks and sounds great in the vid.

As was said, there are faster ones. I think it was a 26 Eliminator that won its class a few years in a row at the LOTO Shootout at 144mph with a Big PSI blower engine and SSM6.

Going 132 on pump gas is very impressive. I would imagine with a race fuel tune and the right prop it would be right there. Have fun and be safe.

40FlatDeck 10-08-2008 10:11 AM

I love these Redlines. Super clean lines, everything rigged great, and those Max drives are the sh*t.:drink:

How about a new X-Power drive on one...:party-smiley-004:

Awesome, awesome boat guys. Congrats!!!!:drink:

I would be willing to bet you put that much hp in this Redline it would be all over that...........if not more....:food-smiley-007:

So i guess the question is.....have you spent the equivalent of a #6 drive on various bravo types?

If you could re-du the build would start with a 6 instead? The motor is obviously bad azz.

TUFFboat 10-08-2008 11:37 AM

Gary,
Another great project.
Am I to understand that you are making over 1000hp on 87-89oct fuel?

I have no experiance with the Max drive (never even seen one) But why has it been your choice in these projects?

A couple things:

I personally like the Max Machine Worx Billet drive for its strength, Performance, and the service the guys provide. Probably in that order. Its just my personal preference. The drive is about $15K. As far as I know, that 26 Redline has 60 hrs on it or so and I think he went through a lower gear set once(I could be wrong). I have had mine on my boat for 67 hrs and had no problems, although I have broken them in the past, but the immediate service was outstanding. I have said before, I dont expect free service, just good service, and the guys at MMW provide that to me and my customers.

The engines run on 91 octane, but will run on 89 no problem and still make 1000hp, just being safe with the fuel:)

Very Happy with the MMW:drink: I really feel like there is not a better combination for this boat, Gary really helped on the drive, because @ the time I didn't know what my best option would be...#6 way to heavy, be easy on the throtle with no jack rabbit starts, and keep your gear oil changed, and the drive stays happy.:p

All true Gary, I have 60hrs on the boat and the only problem I had was my fault, caught a good wave and launched the boat, I couldn't get out of it intime and spun the chit out of it...It kept on going though, it didn't leave me stranded, but I knew it wasn't good, got home and pulled the top cover "YEP NOT GOOD" called Aaron and Jason @ MMW shipped it to them went through the entire drive and had it back in 2 weeks good as new:cool: Great guys to deal with.

320es 10-08-2008 02:09 PM

Definately very impressive for a single. Great looking boat too. Congrats!

GT 10-08-2008 10:07 PM

It will be interesting to see how the boat does as the power comes up. Its still pretty mild IMO,,,,,,If Jeff(the owner), decides to run it faster, I would like to see a cam change and have the engine spin a little faster, rather than dropping the gear ratio and changing props etc........

It might be interesting to punch in the data to a prop slip calculator: 1.35GR+36P Prop+6200+RPM+132 mph, then get a slip number,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Then do the same formula with 6700 rpm and use the slip number from before to see how fast it will go at that rpm......I think the "BAM" site has a prop slip calculator............I am going to check that out, just to get an idea what it "might" go someday...............

See for yourself..........I did:)

The Weismann #6 is half the weight of the Merc.

I'm glad to see this boat do well and I hope RPM will build a twin engine cat in the near future.
