The strongest strap is not going to prevent the two bolts from snapping that hold the tongue on the bolt together aluminum trailer.

All the planning in the world won't make inadequate equipment hold together.

We were at a Poker Run on the Tennessee River last year and there was a couple with a beautiful 38 Top Gun. It was a new boat and they had a new Ford F-650 to tow with.

Well we were loading the same time they were to leave and i actually got by boat on the trailer first and we were cleaning it off and strapping it down when he drove by and honked and waved as he left.

They pulled it straight out of the river, hooked the winch strap to the bow eye and off they drove and yes he had an aluminum bolt together trailer.

Everyone in our group commented about the same time on how expensive the boat was, how expensive the truck was and how cheap he went on the trailer and didn't even bother to strap it down.

Anyone bother to look at the asphalt where the water intakes went across ?? The trailer was an older Loadmaster which are not that great anyway. The I-Beams where the tongue was bolted to is what broke and not the hitch. And yes stape on the rear would have helped to keep the boat from coming of the trailer. The other problem was trying to stop to fast. So ther you have it boys and girls. never transport a boat without being tied down !! :cool-smiley-027:

Had an Aluminum trailer under my 42...It was all over the road, never again, steel baby!
Glad to see the drives were up, could have really done some damage.
