Yeah it's bad out there. I work in the financial industry and its scary what's going on right now. I'm only 28, so holding steady should should pay off for me in the long run (I actually up'd my 401k contributions 3 months ago), but it's got to hurt if you are anywhere near retirement. I'm just hoping that I have a job in the next coming months.

I'm down 100K just this year. When it was good it was REAL good. But when it got bad.........

It's not really "gone" until you sell it (or if one of the companies you own goes out of business). It's scary right now, but I wish I had a mess of cash ready for when it starts to recover. Bad news for short-term or ready-to-retire investors, for sure.

Luckily I'm young enough I should have time to build my retirement back up. Unfortunately my dad wanted to retire next year and he's lost quite a bit. It's not good...
