Runaway jet boat ejects passengers, hits docks
Sunday, October 12, 2008 6:31 AM CDT LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (60 MM) -- A couple guys out for some fun in a jet boat got a sudden surprise Wednesday afternoon. Jason Floyd and Larry Sharp of Edwards, Mo., had just finished fueling at 2:20 p.m. when the vessel's steering cable broke at the mouth of Rainy Creek Cove, near the 60-mile marker. The jet boat took a hard right ejecting the Edwards duo. It then traveled about 150 feet with no one at the helm, ricocheted off a dock, struck a seawall, zoomed across the cove and smashed into two more docks before finally coming to rest. Floyd was taken to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate injuries. The boat was totaled. Another case for wearing a lanyard. |
