Boat storage fire in Maine
3 Attachment(s)
Several friends lost their boats last week in a terrible fire. In the building was the 92 Cig that a buddy and I picked up in Chicago several years back and did a full resto.
Also lost was a board members 37 OL, A sweet '07 Top Gun, a 45 Sonic that had not even been wet after a total re-power and paint and another friends '07 292 Formula. Just amazing that there was so little left of these incredible machines. |
WOW! That sucks!
What a shame. It sucks for everybody that put all the hard work into the boats.
Wow what a tragedy...
That sucks!
WOW! So sad to see.
Very sad indeed!
The pictures do not do all the damage justice. You have to struggle to ID any of the boats. There is litterally NOTHING left. Even the steel trailers melted. :( The boat with the number 6 drives on it was the only one were you could even say ok that is a drive!!:eek: The other drives were just melted away.

It's almost just as well they're totally gone. For me, it would be worse to see it badly damaged, but still barely recognizable. I always felt that if mine caught fire, once it got to a certain point and I couldn't stop it, I'd just let it go. At least this way, there will be no doubt about how the insurance will look at them.
Still - heartbreaking. :( |
Bummer!! That was one hot fire. Is there no end to the madness this year??
:(
It hurts to look at this. I remember what a nice job you and your friend did on that Top Gun.

I can't even imagine how to determine what started that... my God....
Very sad to see...
Hope everyone had insurance... Though insurance can never replace the time, effort and love you guys invested in your resto... Divenstar  |
What a mess that SUCKS! Did you find out how the fire started?
Kurt,
That sucks! You all must be heart broken! Where about was that? Anything salvagable? Engine Blocks, etc? ...Jim

sorry to see
unreal.
Bright side of life is you have one. |
I was always curious how insurance works with these storage facilities, we've never stored a boat. So do you basically hope your insurance covers it, or the facilities? Or is it like valet parking where its "at your own risk"?
One of the finest old school Cigs reduced to ashes.
What a sin. |
WOW what a shame, that was one hot fire to make all those boats look more like wood in a camp fire
MAN O MAN!! That sure is a sad sight. Hopefully no one got hurt fighting it!
