Want to go boating all winter?

I was at my buddy Larry Goldman of Xtreme marines new facility the other day. I have to say I was very impressed! The place is huge! It has to be at least 30,000 inside and another 30,000 outside fenced in. He has more room then boats. I told him he needs to start cutting killer deals to all the northern guys to keep their boats down here. We go boat almost every weekend all winter. Stu from Fl Powerboat club puts on lots of fun runs.
He is going to set up a deal for all the northern guys to store their boats, have them in the water, full of fuel, full cooler with what ever you want waiting for you when you fly in, we go boating all weekend. When your done, you get out of the boat, leave it at the dock and go back to the airport. He flushes the motors, cleans it, covers it and put's it away until the next time you come to town.
Right now you can get flights for about $99 each way. isn't this a better soloution then letting the snow pile up on your boat while you sit on OSO reading about what I'm crashing into with mine!!:drink:

Who would be interested in this?? I would think it's worth it even if you came down once every 6 weeks. Summer dosen't need to be 8 months away!

If he adds a launching service I think this will be good business for him.

Where is it located at ?

Perlmudder 10-23-2008 12:44 PM

What is the hurricane rating on the building? The insurance companies will make it interesting if it's not at least category 4. Unfortunately Wilma changed their view on non Florida residents storing their boats down there for the Winter season.

Not so sure about that - your experiences in Florida are just what is needed in Canada when there is 6ft of snow outside.

We don't have hurricanes over the winter. Hurricane season is June 1st to Nov 30th so i don't think it's an issue for this subject.

Been thinking about this quite a bit lately....it would be nice to come down and boat during the winter and have things taken care of....now I just need to get the boat finished and check with the insurance company to see what's involved in having it stored down in florida...

Bostonirish 10-23-2008 09:13 PM

To heck with the boat you hiring?!!!! Its funny how are season is ending ( or should i say ended) 35 degrees this morning, and yours is getting ready to hit full speed. Must be great ! I gotta say there is nothing like getting on a plane in the dead of winter flying 3 hours and doing some boating for the weekend. Sounds like a great idea good luck!

The only reason I bring it up, is because Wilma came through a few days before the Lauderdale Boat Show. The Top Gun I had at the time was stored at TNT, and thankfully wasn't damaged. Obviously you guys know better than me the extent of the damage to MANY marinas and boats after that disaster, but I came down that Thursday anyway to see. Markel has made it pretty clear to me that they don't want my boat down there without me living there.

LubeJobs42 10-24-2008 10:27 AM

I have kept all of my boats there for over 6 years. With my deal with Mercedes, that boat spends most of the time at the dealership now. Leaving the boats there is a no brainer. You want to use the boat it's in the water ready to go when you get there. When your done, you leave. All of the pain in the butt stuff is done by them.

I totally agree there's nothing like boating in Florida, and is completely worth it to keep a boat down there. Even if only for one season, it's the pinnacle of powerboating.

Good in and out services are tough to find, so this deal sounds really sweet. I think it blows away keeping the boat at a private dock depending on distance.

sy goldberg 10-24-2008 12:58 PM

Larry

How about as an option airport shuttle service ?

...with optional "massages" from the local "dancers"?:drink:

sy goldberg 10-24-2008 01:19 PM

Local Dancers

Many of the local dancers I've seen could be employed by them as boat cleaners as their body parts have many of the same marine growths as found 0n boats.:evilb::evilb:

LubeJobs42 10-24-2008 01:53 PM

My Casino Partner own The Rachaels clubs, Penthouse, Maxim plus some others. I'm sure we can woork some gift certificates or funny money into a multi-month lease deal with my buddy Larry!!
