I like Garmin . I have a Raymarine E120 on the Carver and a Garmin 550 on the Cig. I find the Garmin faster and way easier to use especially when you don't have time to take out the manual and read the 10 steps it takes to do anything .
My next cruiser will have Garmin.

I have lowrance 5300C and love it, I am puting one in my 20 as well, colors are great, easy to use and I like it better than the garmin, it was actually less expensive as well, they have them now at boatersland.com for about 450 bucks.

If anyone is interested...i have a buddy that has a 172c....used once then boat was stolen! it still has the plastic screen cover on it just missing the mounting bracket and power cord...still has box and all manuals and template...he's looking for $300...says he has a reciept for like $7/800 when he bought it new...just wants to recoupe something since he's getting out of boating now...

Wow, this is more difficult than I thought. I figured I would immediately lean to one side or the other.Wally, looking at the 172C on E-bay I can get one for just under 300 w/ warranty and all parts. So not to disrespect your friends misfortune,but I would offer him $175.00 for his unit as-is. If that is unreasonable, I understand.thanks Mike-909-576-4337
