27 Sea Ray Pachanga
 

I'm very interested in a 27 Pachanga and was looking for input from current/past owners or any other advice. It has the single engine configuration. I have boated for years but this will be my first go-fast. If I do purchase the boat, I will need to tow it home quite a distance. I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe, 4 door 4wd. Will I have trouble pulling/stopping it?

Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated.

I really don't know about the boat, but as for the truck I can tell you I have the same but a 99 with a 5.7 L. I pulled my 23' that weighed 4000lbs, plus trailer weight, gear, fuel and so on with ease. The trailer had surge brakes and work very well. Pulled it 100 miles in August and had the cruise set on 75, turned the overdrive off though. I wouldn't think you would have a problem at all towing.

I think the 27 pachangas also had the option of twin screws. I was browsing ebay today and i am pretty sure there was a 27 with twin 454s. I've never driven a pachanga but i hear from owners they are a fantastic product from Sea ray but they had to discontinue it because of too much competition just like four winns. I think they come in the 22, 27 and 32 lengths. 27 and a single engine might not be satisfying but if your coming from cruiser boats, this thing will be tons of fun

Yeah, the tahoe should tow fine with the GM 350. Just set it to cruise on the highway, ignore alll the jerks and you will be more than fine

A friend has a 27 Pachanga. Nice boat, lots of room for a 27, he has about 600 hp and it runs mid seventies.

As far as towing goes, make sure the trailer is in good shape. Make sure tires are properly inflated and that someone has recently serviced the wheel bearings. Also make sure you have a spare tire, a bottle jack and a four way lug wrench.

I had a 27 Pachanga twin 350 Mercruiser 1991.It had the magnum series.It was later repowered with a pair of 1991 5.7 250 hp at the prop 2 barrel.I put a 4 barrel on it with a hi rise alum intake.Installed counter rotation lower unit.She ran 58 mph GPS.It is about a 5700# boat.Rides great.Towed with a F150. No problems.If you want to go fast twins are better.I would run faster then one with a single big block.Docking is easier with twins also.It is a buyers market so take your time and research it out. You could also check with the envision guys. If I remember correctly Envision uses the old Panchanga molds and are more or less the same boat. As for towing you will be fine, I tow a heavier boat than that with an 04' F150.
