Well a 29 Fountain is the size of an AT25 Tantrum; except the AT has more freeboard!

277 sutphen for sure

spilman 11-19-2008 09:46 PM

Any pics of that 377?
Aren't Sutphens similar to PP or Apache?
sorry, just haven't very many..that's a plus in my book.; 1 reason I fell in love w/AT....rare is where it's at

Sutphen's are built just as good as anything out there and have been building boat longer than most. They are excellent rough water boats due to their 26 degree deadrise and run decent speeds for their size. Sutphen's in the 80's were just as popular as Cigarette's. They have also been proven on the race course winning numerous championships over the past 30 years.

I am very aware of the Sutphen history and have considered them many times. What is the freeboard like on the new ones, are they deep or almost a sit down boat? Gunnel depth is a big deal to me and a big reason I went with A.T. and not most of the rest of them. I like being inside the boat not on top of it.

I have seen some older Sutphens; just curious about the new 377. I was not aware of the 26 degree deadrise; Awesome for slicing the rough. Seen alot of OB's...

Ok. I'm bored at work on a Saturday, let's see if I can get some more replies on a topic that is covered at least once a month.:party-smiley-004::party-smiley-004:

To get a more specific idea, here's my answers to the questions that always get asked-

Where? It will be kept on lake cumberland, but trips to other areas/poker runs are possible. I spend the holidays in the keys every year, and have a 40ft dock available there. Friends and family all over florida, and I talked about just taking my boat down there and leaving it for the winter instead of winterizing this year before it sold.

Tow vehicle - 3/4 diesel crew cab SWB/SRW

power? ideally, 80mph with turn key reliability. I don't want to miss half the boating season working to keep it running just to get an extra 5 mph. I don't know if that's possible or not, that's why I'm askin.

I don't like the idea of heading out on the lake and seeing five boats just like mine out there, so I have pretty much written off fountain and baja.

Sounds like you need Audacity...32 Active Thunder that will run all day @ 82+mph....look as sharp as any offshore boat out there and it is very unlikely you will see another 1 more than once a yr; until you bring it to the JOTJ poker run OF COURSE!
I wish I could get Audacity for next yr.....Awesome boat...
If you buy a single engine boat you will always be worried running offshore(FL Keys) solo...just a thought
Sunsation is a great boat for lakes and rivers, fast hull, fit & finish is superb; love the seats, but a little rough in the 3-4's. Fast though...it's a trade off; tuff to get it all in 1 package.
And lastly, if you have the coin, REMEDYis the baddest 35' & under boat on the market for an all around performance boat....92+mph and a huge cabin for this class..
