Default whipple charger question

I have a 98 38 fever with twin hp 500's and I was looking at fitting the whipple chargers on it.

Is there anybody on here that has tried their system? What kind of gain did the system give you? Whether it was on a Fountain or any other boat.

Just looking for feed back on the kit. Or any other advice to gain some MPH. I currently run 75 to 78 mph GPS and on a good day by myself and low fuel 81mph GPS

thnx

Brian

I have installed the Whipple Chargers on my 525EFIs. We did a mild package and got 768HP with 740ft/lbs of torque. We also changed the pistons (to flat tops) valves (Inconel) and rebuilt the engines. They are very reliable, great power and acceleration for a pleasure boat and beleive it or not the fuel consumption is almost the same as when they were 525's.
Thus, I am very satisfied. However, I beleive their are two tricks to know about converting the engines.
1) change your pistons to Flat Tops and make it a real Blower Engine.
2) make sure you have the correct tools (computer software approx $500) for tuning the engines and setting the timing, TPS and etc.

Ray,

thank you for the reply. My motors have carbs so I dont think the software would be of any help. I would dyno them before going into the boat anyways. As far as pistons go, what are in a stock HP500?

What kind of boat did you put them in?

What prop change did you make to it?

What drives were you running?

I couldn't tell you what type of pistons they use, but they are probably some High Top and Blower Motors should use a Flat Type. You need to probably speak to Dustin Whipple.

Boat = 36' Skater
Props : I run anything from 31P to 36P
Drives: #6, 1:35 ratio
