Aluminum Diamond plate use in boat ?

Hi guys, has anyone used aluminum diamond plate in your cabin or engine room? Does anyone know how to keep it looking shiny longer? Clearcoat possibly? Thanks in advance.

clear or powdercoat it.. ask masher44 or look in the classifieds under activator, his boat is slim shady.. very nice engine compartment

just finnished doing my engine bay completely in checker plate. Shiny is easy. The floors are candy purple paint and everything else is powder coated snow white.. I went natural aluminum in my last boat and never again. clear chips off and it corrodes around the chip. Polishing it with metal polish is a pain in the ass so this time, paint and powder coat.

I ripped up the carpet and installed polished diamond plate in my engine compartment two yrs ago, the polish went away pretty quickly but the dull aluminum still looks a lot better than carpet, i boat in salt water so fresh water might be better. i found some 1/8" x48" sheets on the internet and had a local metal shop bend them around my floorboards, turned out great.

Not Right, do you have any pics of your engine compartment? I just got a 2000 280 Silencer and was thinking about replacing the carpet with diamond plating. How long did it take, I heard tearing out the carpet can be a pain. I would appriciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!!!

Why not use some thin stainless?

Thats what I did on all my tool benches and they look awsome.

Just to throw something else out there, why go with metal when you can get this stuff and it'll look the same forever. I put alum diamond plate in my engine compartment and that'll be the last time I ever do that, paint will just chip anyway. I'll go with this fake stuff next time:
