GM 50th Anniversary aluminum 427
Anyone know about these things? They're only making 427 of them and they're built on the original ZL1 tooling. My GM rep called today and said I sold enough motors this year I'm eligible to buy two of these things for 23k a piece. I thought that was a little steep, but now that I'm looking around I see Scoggin Dickey and others are only taking deposits and not releasing the final cost. I've seen a couple for sale for 33k to 35k already and projected to go up. With the state GM and the economy in general is in it's hard to believe people are going to get into a bidding war over these. Any thoughts, anyone want one..
They'd be pretty cool in a boat

This is a small tidbit we got on it through a dealer email. From what Ive heard, they are supposed to be high demand for the extreme collector. Not sure how true that is, but we'll see. Anyway, heres the blurb we got from GM.
The Western Region has available some of the Anniversary 427 engines.
If you are not familiar with this specific motor and why it is so unique.
From GM Performance Parts, this is probably the most exciting new engine in years. It is the 427 Anniversary Aluminum Big Block Crate engine. This new engine is a modern version of the ZL-1 427 of the 1960’s era. We have built it with all new updated materials to offer an extreme 480 horsepower tribute to our heritage. Everyone who purchases these engines will be in a very exclusive club because only 427 of these engines will ever be produced and then this specific ZL1 tooling will be retired forever. Each Anniversary engine will include a document that will allow customers to receive a special commemorative owner's kit specifically assigned to their engine number.

Hot Rod TV had an episode on a modern day version of the old Popular Hot Rodding Project X '57 Chevy and they used this new motor in it.

That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking.. Thought I'd better check though. You never know what people will spend on "collecter" chit these days.. One of my customers has a mint Fiero in his garage that he bought new, he's convinced it will be bigger then the '69 camaro one day....
