Thriller Power boats has actually made a cat with a jet engine. I cannot remember what the engine was/is but they are going to use pure thrust to propel the boat, twin rudders to steer.

They had a web site that showed the boat and such but I cannot find it at this moment.

i was thinking more along the lines of an old wave crusher like a 47 apache and keep the power pulled way back so the boat will maybe do 120 and i figure it would be a pretty safe speed with a boat that big and heavy.........

Couple reasons come to mind...

-Insurance.... Impossible
-Flexibility.... Heat, Docking, Fuel Burn.


I base myself on my friends observations who runs a Skater 36 with twin turbines on the Lake, some of his quotes:

-It practically burns as much fuel at idle as it does WOT...
-Heat in a confined space made of fiberglass is not the best idea...
-Good thing I have a Turbine crew for my Tractor Pull rig or else where do you deal with this.
