simple physics, but 1400 hp in a 14'boat, and it goes fast, add a beak and a swim platform to te 14' boat and rename it a 38... theres your answer

This thread will no doubt draw several comments.

Mine being.....Simply because Fountain is owned and run by a man that is driven, has a desire to be at the top of his game, and will not settle for less from his product or himself. Constant R&D and capital invested to improve the hull design have put Reggie where he is today, the man refuses to sit still. Love him or hate him, he is an innovator and leader in this industry.

The easiest answer to your question though - There is a guy at my Redneck Yacht Club with a "35" fountain. It weighs 2/3rd's what my 35 Cigarette weighs.

I know where your coming from. I have a friend and his boat weighs 1/3 more than mine!

my 30 cig is bigger tied up to a 32 fountain, and the cig with stock 500's does around 82-84. im not sure what the 32 fountain does with 500's, prolly faster, but side by side the cig is and looks bigger

same reason you don't need cabin lighting....there so thin the sunlight shines through!

Yeah - that's why I put the 35 in quotes up above. I figured I'd leave out the fact that when it were to get rough he'd get beat to pieces while my crew drank beer and played with the Ipod - being obese helps sometimes.

So true... after one pokerrun friends boat that had been delivered the day before was dropping screws and had a cracked gelcoat....

And a week after this picseries the other 496 died altogether because of a leak in the fuel line.

A Sponsor for our raceteam told me at Brands Hatch this fall ( a Briton) ..the problem is you Finns take everything so damn seriously, that made me think about an edge.

On the other hand If I want to go fast I throw out everything I don´t need..including the passengers and their seats because when it comes to speed, safety and durability there ain´t no compromises.

Yes on that same day a Baja outlaw broke it´s stringers... the day before I had built a new engine for him and yes they broke it on purpose as they asked me how much can the engine take...
I told them WOT the Whole Weekend and then some.

I Give credit when it´s due truly but Fountain do have more marketing than reputation as we speak IMO..just like the Big3 and look in what condition they are.
Too much bragging IMO.

thanks for all the input..good and bad.was not trying to stir the chit pot,just wondering.my 27 is all stock.i left it alone so it would be realible.i hear alot of you guys talking about weight.i learned a long time ago weight is SPEED.yes,you have to have weight to run in big water,but how much weight is too much?has reggie found that balance?i think so.yes,reggie talks alot of stuff,brags alot.pisses alot of people off.thats all a part of the fun.but like it or not,its not braging when you can back it up.reggie can walk the walk,and surely,talk the talk.

If this was a legit thread as opposed to a pot stirring winter blues thread then - yeah weight is big but noone will deny that Fountain is known for having a lot of race-bred technology in their hulls that has done a lot for development of the sport.....

And when he walks everybody laughs...and when he tires to run even more... cause the Tupeé will fall off.

A few Hints...
The Beak was already the norm to stretch a smaller boat to be eligible in the 60´s.
Steps were used in 1930´s and 40´s in Torpedo boats, I got one 800 yrd from me here at display even.
Fabio Buzzi I recall did help Reggie... and then there was this one guy who actually started the whole Company...a WELL KNOWN Racer himself and Reggie was just a helper.
