If the warranty is transferable, I think it would help resale.

As long as the engine is still within it's original 1 year warranty (regardless of hours) it is possible to extend it for an additional 4 years with the Brunswick Product Protection - Passport Premiere policy. This policy is unlimited hours, has a $25 deductible and is transferable to a subsequent owner which is a huge selling feature. The standard policy limit of liability is $10,000 per engine/drive but I always increase the limit of liability to $20,000 or $30,000 for any blue motors. When I purchased my boat I bought the warranty thinking it would be a good resale feature. A year ago the policy paid $20,000 for a new 500EFI longblock when I had a failure so I am WELL ahead of my investment. Brunswick is still (temporarily) working off of pricing from 6/1/04 so rates are due to go up. Currently a 525 with the liability upgrade to $30,000 and the wear upgrade will run around $6,700 per engine/drive. Let me know if anybody has any additional questions. Makes a great Christmas gift!!

I am in a similar predicament.. My warrantee on the 525's up in a few months as well.

about #14,000 from Brinswick for the extended warrantee. (they told me 3 years)
They WIll cover the headers but not the motors if the headers fried them. Go figure.

I don't know if its worth it. I can use the boat for 2 more months, So I haven't decided.

Ranger... YOu can get me the warrantee for a present .. anytime.

Yes! Get 30K for sure. I have it and I have had no out of pocket expenses on my boat to date. I have had it for almost 3 years.
