BUI driver that killed 6 in Ft Lauderdale, FL dies in prison.....

This was a pretty big case here in S. FL ten years ago. Guy ran a 42/45 triple engine Sonic up the ICW after a night at Shooters with his girlfriend and plowed into a 31 Tiara and killed all six aboard........ Do a search on Stanley Cameron and you can find the original report on OSO/Google.....

Man who killed 6 in boating accident dies in prison
By Tonya Alanez | South Florida Sun-Sentinel
December 24, 2008
A man serving a 50-year sentence for killing six people in one of Broward County worst boating accidents has died in prison of natural causes.

Stanley Cameron, 67, suffered from chronic lung disease and pneumonia when he died Dec. 8 at Zephyrhills Correctional Institution, according to an autopsy report.

"We're all pretty raw right now," said Liz Cameron, 34, of Houston, one of Cameron's six children. "We're all very sad at the passing of our father."

Cameron's blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit for driving when his speedboat hit and sank another boat on the Intracoastal Waterway on Nov. 24, 1997.

Broward jurors convicted Cameron in 1999 of manslaughter for killing James Colonna, 37, of Delray Beach; his cousin, John Colonna, 35, of Sicklerville, N.J.; Capt. Simon Prankerd, 32, of Lighthouse Point; and three others.

"Everybody lost in that deal," said Paul Colonna, of Royal Palm Beach, a relative of James and John Colonna. "So God forgives him and he's in heaven."

What's unreal is that the guy who owned the Tiara hired a captain to run his boat because he wanted to be able to party with his guests & not have to drive his boat after having a few drinks.

Cousin quoted in the article said it best "Everybody lost in that deal."

I would rather be dead than live the last eight years of my life in a state prison waiting to die.......
