Default Skater Speeds. Please Enlighten Me.

I've been procrastinating for some time now, but wanted to touch on this.

In the December 08 Powerboat a Skater 388 was tested. Now I've always considered Skater as a simple no frills speed demon. Period. However I was quite surprised to see this boat, with 1200 horse mills only topped out at 154. I realize 154 is impressive but is it? For a 38 foot Skater with 1200s, no cabin, and as the artice states, "The 388 Skater didn't have much for stowage options in its cockpit".

Take a 36 Nor-Tech. A boat set-up as much for pleasure and comfort as for speed. Cabin, bed, toilet, stowage. And runs 160 with 1150s.

Don't mean to start a world of $hit here, but doesn't 154mph leave a little to be desired with 1200s? In a new 38' Skater?

When they test these boats they are not "Long Propped" meaning they are propped for all around performance. They want the boat to accelerate and run a decent top end. When they tested "Bad" 40 Skater it went 157 on the limiters but we had it to 165 with big wheels on it.

It's a boat test. My 388 ran 174.8 on the limiters with JT and I running it. Nor-tech with the same power runs about 160

I don't believe this to be a correct statement either.....the 36' NorTech is slower than this.....with 1150's
