Sorry I was so late on this thread, been riding dirt bikes to much I guess.
Are you crazy or something. Those were little ole cooking motors, 1075 mercs. You know us MTI guys like that factory stuff and pump gas.I ran the boat in Havazoo with Randy and we were second to the first card stop. CRC was first.
Also to answer your other question about any MTI's over 180, CRC ran 198 that thursday.

Jim i think the CRC boat ran the Desert storm Shootout , i'll check with Gary@ Predator i think he has the shootout book with the shootout speeds

Freedom US1 ran 147.2 this weekend with two speed trannies.Not bad for open cockpit piston powered 46. 150 + shouldn't be a problem.
