Here it is when it was new. My father raced it. Then it was sold and became "Brakes."
You can see the boat if you look closely in the 2nd and 3rd picture. It is next to the Sutphen in our driveway heading for the Benihana Grand Prix in 1980, which they won the production class in the Viper.

Thanks guys. I was watching an old Freeze Frame video of a race on Long Island and it was running. Lucky- nice set up with the two racing rigs, very cool. Sean, if you could get some current pics in the barn that would be great. Something about an old racing machine tucked away in a barn that's really neat, like a classic car waiting to be found!

We were one of the first teams to bring two boats to a race.
The Sutphen was 4 mph faster than the Viper in the calmer water with the same power. 280 MercCruisers with TRS drives
Nobody in P class could keep up with the black Viper in the rough that year.
We would enter both boats & pick which one to run race day.
Racing back then was a blast with very few hassles.

When you mentioned your Viper is that the same boat Smitty runs as Wazzup??
