? about taking boat to Florida in Feb.
 

Me and the wife are contemplating towing the boat down to Punta Gorda area and staying on the boat somewhere. Anybody know of marinas, slips for rent. Looking into fisherman's village right now.

Can we leave the boat in the water for 2 weeks? How much damage will this do? anyother info would be appreciated.

You usually can get a rider pretty easily from your insurance Co for a couple hundred bucks.

Do it and have fun you'll wonder why you live further up than Orlando in the winter.

No damage to boat whatsoever to leave boat in water for two weeks, BUT make sure you don't have any leaks! If you are not used to extended in water time, you must check everything out. Leaving the boat in salt water for two weeks is not a big deal. It won't damage your motors as long as you keep it wet (don't let salt water dry out in motor, the water evaporates, and leaves just salt and air behind which is a petri-dish for rust). Just make sure you wash and flush every square inch of the boat AND trailer when you are finished with the trip.

Check all through hull fittings, all mount points like drives and trim tabs. Check your outdrive boots and shift cable grommets. Check your intake fittings for genset/AC unit. Make sure all of your bilge pumps are operational including float switches. (Actually test them by putting fresh water in the hull.) And make sure your batteries are in tip-top condition. On extended trips, I keep a battery jump-pack in the boat and a high-flow/high pressure blige pump with alligator clips and a long discharge hose (to go over gunwale) for use in emergency.

You can't go wrong with Fisherman's Village. It is one of my favorite places to go.

Thanks guys. The boats sits in the water up here so its used to that. As for winterizing I do that myself and will just take my equipment with me. Our friend lives 10 min. from the launch ramp so we can do that at his house. Wifes been trying to call marinas and no one been answering.

Now I just need to research some trips and place's to go around there. I think I need a c-map for my gps for that area. Mine is for great lakes.

just leave the salt water in it . . . that wont freeze :D

Dave funny you would say that. I was just wondering are glaciers fresh or salt water? Does salt water freeze? Not that I plan on leaving it in just curious.
