I don't think any records were broken.

The boat was at the Miami Boat Show s couple years back after they were done messing with it....

I think Mr. Tomlison tried and then Ben something I think Robertson (that use to work at Fountain) tried but they couldn't reach the Fountain number safely. Just what I recall some others will chime in with more precise information I am sure.

Search 2006 or 2007 Miami boatshow pictures and you might see it.

Here is one thread about the built.

CustomRigger101 01-10-2009 07:56 AM

that's her.. and you are right no records fell that day

they did acouple pass at 60% 80% then pulled the boat to put longer lower units on her than put her back in and ran it again at 80%... the captain didn't like the way she was handling and pulled her again and that's all i've ever heard about the boat..

anyone now where she make berth now..

GLH 01-10-2009 07:57 AM

If you know the information Thomas why did you ask? :D

CustomRigger101 01-10-2009 08:03 AM

Article says it mae a one-way pass through the Kilo course at 163.759 and attained a top speed of 172.....

CustomRigger101 01-10-2009 08:24 AM

yes

CustomRigger101 01-10-2009 11:02 AM

IMHO.. destroyed the boat

why take a laid up skater full canopy off it...

pm203 01-10-2009 11:09 AM

Why not?

CustomRigger101 01-10-2009 11:30 AM

sold and ran about every boat you can name.. full race even for pleasure is the only way to go.. IMHO

with full canopy you have no worries.. about 90 mph you start to loose your sight in a full open deck because of the wind or you have to wear high speed glasses, birds on the ocean are always another consideration, no worries about rain.. just safer and fun i a fully in closed boat IMHO

CustomRigger101 01-10-2009 11:35 AM

plus i loved that cig

pm203 01-10-2009 12:17 PM

I get it. However, I can't understand how anyone could enjoy a pleasure boat with a full canopy. And, is a full canopy boat a pleasure boat?

The motors were not quite modified 1075's...They were fully custom one offs by Merc. I talked to Tomlinson about his run at the record in this boat a couple months after it was attempted. He explained the boat had a LOOOOOT more in it and he had it up into the 170's for one pass but it was dangerous. He explained it wasn't unstable while running it up in speed it began to chine when coming off speed. JT said it could pass the speed record but not safely without a padded bottom.

They pulled the boat did some mods but the thing that needed to be done was to pad the bottom. At that point Skip had a sh!t load of money into the project and didn't want to screw with it any more.

This was the first built. There was another one built almost identical that races over seas that is still full canopied. The original was modified and the canopy cut off. I believe they modified the cockpit too, pushing it forward slightly. Also pulled the crazy motors and slapped some 1075's in it. Still runs in the 140's I believe.

I got to spend some time crawling and running with it at the Desert Storm poker run in 07. Thing is simply bad azz!!! Totally custom boat.

Here's some video I shot out there and some pics.
