New Throttlebody for 500 and 525

This is the new throttlebody we made and tested for the 500 and 525 engine. The engine in the video is a 500 Mercury with 250 hours. We put a set of Dart 310 heads right out of the box No Porting and a Crane 741 cam. We made 575 HP with the stock throttlebody. We then installed the new throttlebody and made 605 HP. The new throttlebody flows about 2000cfm. We made a iac adapter to mount on the front block off plate but the adapter will bolt right on the back of a 525 manifold. It also gained 30 ft #'s of torque thru out the rpm range. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT8FmzMo2Uw

Nice, now that is some bolt on performance.:drink:

525 gains?

dreamer 01-20-2009 09:28 AM

500 gains with out the heads and cam? will it give a 30 hp diff on a stock motor?

Tyler that is awesome and a great package that I had good experience with on the 500's.

The throttle body really looks strange I guess that is called "Thinking Out Of The Box".

Nice job and it's nice to see folks developing products that really work.

Good luck

Looks interesting--how much extra height is required over a stock 525?

tomcat 01-20-2009 04:25 PM

Good job Tyler! Now make one with four holes over the whole plenum.:D

It added 30 hp and 30 torque to my stock 525.

How much? I need 2.

We gained 22HP on a stock engine. It really helps when you got full ported heads and a bigger cam when you can't move enough air thru the front of the manifold.

The total height is 2 3/4". The flame arrester is built in it is not in the video.

Thanks Dock my original plan was to have a whole new top with the throttle blades built right in the top to save on hatch height. After 25000.00 in Cad drawings and pattern making and the first one did not fit the manifold just right because the Cad drawing was not right and my freind that owned the foundry passed away I desided to make the throttle body for the top. It is cheaper and it works I am anodizing all of them blue to blend in a little.

Kinda cool but in no way "bolt on performance". You
will need to mill, drill, and tap your plenum along
with buying a new filter/spark arrestor. That will add
about what - 6 inches or more under the engine hatch.
Seems like a huge expense for 30 ponies. How many of
you guys have six inches to spare? :cool-smiley-026:

I will have some tops done already to exchange or just send your top to me and we will put it in the CNC machine and it will do it all in a couple minutes. The flame arrester is built in already and is not in the video but it goes under the top plate you can see in the video. The total height added is 2 3/4"'s. What is 30HP worth when it will give you 1 1/2 to 2 MPH ?? I am still putting the cost together to offer a package deal with manifold modifacations. And I will leave the question alone

As Tyler said, it is a complete kit with core exchange, no work other than swaping manifold. 2 3/4" total added height. Also keep in mind you are looking at the proto type, the finished verison I am told, will be blue annodized making it look almost stock. Very Cool! So get in line and place your orders...

They already pulled the video off, can you post a pic here on OSO?
