Extention Boxes
I have an old Scarab Panther 502s / Bravo. How much difference would 12 inch extension boxes make on top end and is it even worth the investment? How hard is it to find used ones?

you need to find your prop shaft height ,its easy on singles measure center of the prop shaft to bottom of vee common size is 4 1/2'' to 5 1/2'' on non box boat. then if you add a box you should go up a min of 1'' and max of 3''. with twins I would check to see what a few other non step twin vees are at for a base line. my boat was 7 1/2'' so I knew I needed a 2'' shortie to start with to get me at 5 1/2'' and picked up 4 to 5 mph gps. IF I went with a box I would go with a imco 3''raised 1st choice and a 1'' spacer to give me a total of 4'' which at 12'' box would be good. because MY DRIVE WAS DEEP TO BEGIN WITH. With your boat if you find its short from the factory the stellings will give you a choice of standard or 1'' up or down and if you go up and you did not gain speed next would be to add 2''shorties and if its slipping to much you can add 1/2'' or 1'' spacers hope that helps ,so imco is standard/ or a raised 3''. and stellings is a adjustable 1'' down /standard/ 1'' up and you need external steering.
