Pricing on Mercury engines....
Questions I have, I see boat dealers taking thousands off on leftover boats that they have in stock. Why don't they do it for engines too?
I found a Mercury enginefrom racing division and they are asking the same price as a new 09 and it is a 07 engine.Should it be less money?
PS Looking for 300xs outboards.

You would think so. Why would any one purchase a 2 year old engine for the same price. Engines just like most things are constantly being updated and improved during the course of a production run. For the same price, I would want the latest and greatest that Merc has. 2 years old equals discount to me.

Yes that is true, but they say merc has not changed anything on the engine. Really merc went up in price since 07 from 15,200 to 16,500 for a 09. So they tell me they can sell me a left over for 15,200.Thats what they sold for in 07. How much do they make on a outboard engine?Has to be some room to come down in price.

We have set we will sell
If you go to our website www.teamshogren.com and look at the eliminiator under other used boats you can see a set of new (less than 15 hours) with warranty 300XS. Feel free to make fair offer.

That is the boat that I rigged. Those motors are awesome. I would not own a 4 stroke if all the 2 strokes were like that. You would never know that those engines were 2 strokes.
I'm not sure what you are asking for the Eliminator, but just the upgrades to that boat were over 70K. With the engines, the parts alone were over 55K.

Not to throw a wrench into this. But most new boats with new mercury 1075's are outdated. Merc is now making and highly suggesting to change pulley system, water pumps, and fuel regulator. Buy a new boat and have to yank the egines to come up to date sounds crazy. Maybe I'm missing something... I'm Sure it's the same for other engines and boats that haven't sold.
