Poker Run...Mid-Atlantic Location...

What? St. Judes Regatta/Poker Run 03 August.
Where? From the northern Va. Beach coastline covering the Southern Chesapeake Bay/Atlantic Ocean and Elizabeth river will be covered in the course.

Huh?
The event will be hosted, started and finished in Little Creek Basin just west a little of the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel if you were to look at a map. Currently, there is no limit on boats because there's no space limitation. ALL MONEY'S go to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital.

What's the game?
Tentatively planning a 7 card stud with six stops (last card at the post party). Each leg will be in big water with plenty of distance to really say you boated your way thru it. Includes two party's (pre & post), prizes, t-shirts, ditty bags, free marina lift in/outs and more. Here's the kicker! It's only $75.00 to enter THIS YEAR!...

What?!
In the past the sail boat folks (Regatta portion) put it on and didn't do a great job. This year, the HRPA assumed the run logistics and are cranking up the heat. Also in the works, is a professionally packaged video of the run to be sold/ordered. Come on, for $75.00 how can you go wrong.

You're kiddin'?
As each year goes by this event will grow and grow simply because of the big water it's run on, it's charity driven and there's a lot of bang for the buck money wise.

Yes, more to come....

....there's also a sweet hotel deal that's within walking distance of a Marina/boatel that will provide "free" forking of trailered boats in/out of the water with "free" trailer parking in the meanwhile....

Sounds like a great time!!! It's nice to hear about a "reasonable" entry fee for a poker run. Not all of us can afford $500 plus fuel for a good day on the water.

It's actually an obscenely cheap amount! This year will involve a lot of local media which will give the notoriety for the future. It's been around for about 5 years or so but the folks who run the main event (80+ boat sailing regatta) just didn't know anything about poker runs and it was weak at best...

Last year a group of avid performance boaters formed a club called the Hampton Roads Powerboat Association (HRPA) and lobbied to take over the poker run portion of the Little Creek Regatta benefit for St. Judes Children Research Hospital. Granted this is our first year, but we feel it's gonna be a great one!

As mentioned earlier, we're planning a 7 card stud game with 6 stops. Each stop will cover some distance and provide a great opportunity to run big water, especially for those who come from inland lakes/rivers. We (HRPA) feel we have the best variation of water to offer on the east coast. If the weather does us right it's gonna be a ragin' good time and it will provide ample opportunity see what your boat will do....

BTW, the regatta website below is pending some changes so it may still reflect last year's info/dates for a few more days...
