Waterproofing Cockpit Cover
 

What's the best product to use to re-waterproof a cockpit cover? My cover is not Sunbrella - its more of a weather resistant material. I've read that some people like 303, Starbrite and even Thompsons. What do you recommend? Thanks

I use 303 for fabric

"Igloo" waterproofing. Comes in a little plastic bottle, white/purple, about 1 & 1/2 times the size of a been can. Buy it at a fabric store. I've been happy with it several times over the years.

I tried the 303, it seemed like it wore off pretty quick when I got caught in a rainstorm. Last time I hosed it down with the Starbrite, haven't had it out in the rain to see how it worked.

Whatever you do, buy it in the gallon size and get a pump-up 'bug sprayer' from Lowes or HD. Makes it a lot easier to go over a cock-pit cover if you aren't squirting/refilling.

303 on mine for 2 summers worked perfect. price'y ,but very well worth it. 80 something a gal. from westmarine.

Camp Dry

Hands down, 303!!! I haved used 303 for my detailing business for years and have found nothing better.

I used a product called siloxithane. Its used for sealing Block walls in construction lasted 4 years on a canvas top for a old Jeep that never came out of the elements.
can be bought at AH harris Inc and is pretty expensive but works like you wouldnt believe.

I sealed the block on my Ideal patio blocks and they dont even change color in the rain.LOL

I changed two blocks at one point after and they get dark when they get wet the rest stays light and dry.
