As far as I know, all of Mercs engines are rated at the prop.

Yeah but people put them infront of shaft or anersons too....but i guess merc would be justified in using all their own stuff.

800sc. = 700 hspr at prop shaft. 800 is ft lbs of torque. 750 hspr at flywheel or crank. cya.:cool-smiley-027::cool-smiley-027:

I read somewhere that anything made by Mercruiser that isn't black is flywheel hp.

I heard the opposite. Black is flywheel, blue is prop.

Black is most certainly crank hp.

We know 525's are more like 540ish at the crank and 500 at the prop.

How Merc rates HP, whether its at the prop or crank has changed several times and varies depending on year and engine.
