Default 78 glastron w454/502 mag mpi

hey guys im new here and this is my first post. im rebuilding a 1978 glastron and refitting it wit a bbc and hp alpha one. im new to bbc and mpi systems. i have been reading alot here about these motors and im almost done building mine. i had acess to 2 different bbc a 7.4 efi/mp and a 502 mag. i know what they say about the 7.4 internals, but the one i just rebuilt was a 96 it had a forged crank, forged rods but cast pistons. this motor had less then 50hrs and was fresh water cooled so i used it to rebuild. i kept everything stock except for using the 502's entire intake, harness and ecu. this set up is going into a 19' boat that should weigh around 3000lbs total. i am moving the x dimenson up 1" since i am redoing the entire floor, stringers and transom. this is primarily a wake board boat, but people have been telling me i will be hitting 70+mph with this set up. i used to run a 300hp ford 302 with a volvo 280 out drive with no trim andmy best was 53mph. they say they bbc and power trim will be a huge difference, what do you guys think? anybody ever do something like this here?
alot of sic boats around here
heres a few pics...jay

I love those old boats. My first boat was a Glastron GT150. Good luck with it. Post some pics of the boat.

That Alpha won't live very long with the torque from a 502 Mag. Merc had a few 7.4 330hp combos out and that was just about the limit. I have heard for a few guy putting a 425hp 383 in front of an Alpha and the really had to baby the thottles.

Let's see some pics of your boat.

i know about the out drive possibly exploding, i am raising the x dimension 2", to help lessen the load. 1.32 gears, drive shower and synthic lube. also the boat is pretty light. when it goes ill build a bravo.
heres a few pics from early last season, the boat is getting all new stringers, transom and composite floor, so it will look a little bit different this year. that interior i did myself 2 years ago.

this is what it looks like now!

I took for granted you had a Carlson. That boat should be a handful with a big block.

Default update

ok got some work done, test fitted the engine and it fit with a little room to spare! after the test fit i started cutting and glassing in some wood. first i glassed in the transom with 2 layers of biaxial behind it and clamped it down. i got 2 stringers bedded and glassed in, and with the biaxial cloth its bullet proof! alot of work to go still but making progress. check cgoa for the full build up its pretty trick with all the mods going into the structre. keep you updated, jay

got a little work done with the stringers and some other stuff, paying real close attention to detail, this thing is strong!
