BOATING ON A BUDGET 02-21-2009 07:35 PM

Looking for a new boat.

I am looking to uprade from my old money pit to a new faster good looking boat.
I want speed and a wave crusher.
Thinking about the 29 or 30 outlaw 2000-04.
Also thinking of a fountain but, i think I can't fit it in the budget.
The time to steal a boat is now. looking at repo's
I have a 87 baja 25 454 trs. loads of fun.
not new or fast (60 gps) enough.
Looking for good advice on getting a great boat and great deal, that I can use for many years without wanting more.
Thanks

TheFever29 02-21-2009 07:44 PM

BOATING ON A BUDGET 02-21-2009 07:59 PM

opps I forgot to tell you I dont want to spend 40.
40-45 but I would like to get into something cheaper

I hope I am not pipe dreaming.

yesrej 02-21-2009 08:09 PM

i dont think you are going to get a 30 footer for 30k...

BOATING ON A BUDGET 02-21-2009 08:13 PM

I am sorry I did not mean 30 footer. I ment 30k is what I want to spend.
I could spend more but I would like to spend less than 30-40k

Run_em_hard 02-21-2009 10:03 PM

This seems like a awesome boat for the cash.

Its a 13 year old 27' single engine boat not known for being high quality. Not a bargain to me.

It might be possible to find a 29 Outlaw for under 40k. Probably won't be in the best condition. There are a lot of boats out there for sale. You should be able to find something decent in your budget/size range.

something like this?
Is there something better?

Loan $hark 02-22-2009 12:31 PM

I looked at a 29 outlaw in person that photographed nicely like the repo, asking $55, and was truly a piece. Had been left in water for a number of seasons and needed a lot of work. Setting your price expectations and budget based on a couple of outlier listings is not going to be realistic. I can also guarantee that you will not find any 30OL in that range that floats and/or runs.

If you want to lock in at $30 and lower you are definitely looking at boats older than 2000.

Dono77056 02-22-2009 12:33 PM

Theres some deals out there, more so it seems on the bigger boats. If your trying to get in the price range your looking for on a repo, better add another 10 - 15K to you budget for the unknown over the next year. The repair bill on twins can add up quick.

BOATING ON A BUDGET 02-22-2009 12:58 PM

I am able to spend more but I am also still tring to get a steal.
I would like to stay under 30 because I want to leave it in the well. The well is also not a must.

cigrocket 02-22-2009 01:49 PM

You need a wave crusher on Lake Michigan.

He's not on Lake MI, but Lake St Clair.

However, your boat would be an awesome choice I think.:drink:

TheFever29 02-22-2009 02:08 PM

well i also have my 29.5 scarab with twin 350 mpi's for sale. im asking less than 30k and it comes with a nice 2002 aluminum trailer. i can send video of it and pics. its really clean and runs great. let me know if u want me to email u all the info. same boat sold on ebay for $38,600 on ebay without trailer last week.

Raylar 02-22-2009 02:22 PM

You won't get something for nothing but you just might get something for a little som

That 29 Baja seems like a good buy is going to be had, but if you notice a $32K minimum bid is asked and I don't think you are going to buy that boat for less than $40-45K.
Keep dream'in and trying though in this market who knows, the worst thing they can say is NO! good Luck!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Boatingonabudget:
You might want to look at this boat on Ebay, #290296245185 a 1995 Sonic 35', the bid closes in another day, but with a little work here a new trailer and loose the arch, someone is going to geta nice toy here for a very resonable price I think!
Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

A deal that seams to good to be true usually is. Spend the $$$ up front on a nice clean boat or spend it later fixing stuff on the great deal.

The engine HP is listed as 385hp. They are not. They are 310hp. The cabin carpet is all stained which shows it has had standing water in it.

There are plenty of good boats out there for sale at very reasonable prices.

You need to decide if you want a single or twins as well.

5050 02-22-2009 03:54 PM

i know you want newer, but you can buy mine an'88 cig bullet $39999. everything is new on the boat.

BOATING ON A BUDGET 02-22-2009 08:53 PM

I dont know if thats going to be much faster or ride better than my old boat. Sorry but I could be wrong.
It looks great though.

I know the original owner of the boat, he's a very good friend. He bought it new in 96 and babied it. Very nice riding boat, cuts through waves like a knife and would run mid to high 60's. I miss that boat around here!

AIR TIME 02-23-2009 09:44 AM

FOR 30,000 YOU CAN GET IN A NICE VELOCITY 26 with a blower motor thats worth 20,000 a lone its 1000hp. thats no deal on profile sorry 96 its worth 18,000 or so you can get 25ft or longer boats that are 99 or newer from 25,000 and up. its a buyers market. let me know if you want to talk to the owner.

BOATING ON A BUDGET 02-23-2009 12:20 PM

I don't think that boat exists...everyone wants more!!! :ernaehrung004:

BajaFresh 02-23-2009 12:45 PM

If you want a wave crusher I'd look at Cigs, 28's, Bullets or bigger.

I LOVE my 29 Outlaw and run it in the Pacific in pretty snotty water and it does fine but I wouldn't call it a wave crusher like my old 28 Cig was. It is a lot nicer boat with way more cabin though. And I've learned that there is other throttle positions besides pegged!

There are some pretty good deals on them if you look around enough.
