Plus... the 40 had the smaller Perkins 4-108.
The 42 displaces 25,000... as does the 40.
But what a screamer at 8/10th of a knot faster.

I'd heard that they had to hire Dennis Connor to drive the second boat in all of the "tacking" scenes because Johnson couldn't handle the winged keel and nearly rolled it once. Dunked a stuntman as I recall...

In the 4th season they had to modify the cabin for some steamy scenes with Shenna Easton and Carol Burnette. Apparently that required a keel modification that made coming about in a headwind difficult and resulted in a fight between Don Johnson and Dennis Connor.

Yes. Season one was the 40 foot Endeavour, while the rest of the seasons was the 42 Endeavour. I believe that the 42 was a Masthead rigged sloop, Navtec Rod rigging, center cockpit, end boom sheeting. It had Fresh water cooled 62 HP Perkins 4-154 diesel engine with 2.5 to 1 reduction gear. It had 788 square feet of sail area, while the 40 only had 749.
Plus... the 40 had the smaller Perkins 4-108.
The 42 displaces 25,000... as does the 40.

So many things to prepare for ahead of the season.
