Default whats the best way to repair skegs?

What do you do do to fix skegs that are broken off? Is this common? Will it affect the steering?

I bought replacement skegs from BAM approx 5 yrs ago. They are skegs that have just been cut off new drives right below the torpedo. I assume damaged drives. They make for gret replacement skegs since they are already the correct shape. I think they were $20 then. Mine was just damaged on the leading edge on 1 drive, and the bottom of the other, so I cut the replacement skegs to only that amount. Try to keep from welding any closer than needed. The heat can ruin your o rings in the prop shaft carrier. Put the carrier back in it if you do weld up high to help keep the torpedo from getting distorted from the heat.
