Any distributors that can run without a box???
What distributors can run by themselves and do not require a box or brain to run with it?????? Looking for the most simple/dependable set-up.........

probably some variant of GM's hei maybe? Did they ever have a marine version? That would be my guess for most dependable.

GM HEI or a version of it... I have a Proform Billett version that I use.. If you want to, there is a marine version I believe from MSD and or Mallory..
The one I have is vaccum adjustable and can also take adjustable springs..
Hope it helps..

The GM HEI marine version is called Voyager
I used a few of these systems with early EFI kits with out spark control in the mid 90s. The system comes with a coil and wire harness.
Mallory also make a nice billet version with USCG approval but I believe you would have to replace the IC module in the distributor.
MSD also make a nice billet version, but I do not believe it is USCG approved?

Buy the $125 one from auto zone. I know some guys who use these without ever failing.
1 wire for the tach and 1 wire for the ignition.
All in all done.
