The balancing act in the way they drive these things is amazing.

Congrats to Mr. Price.

Amen....Tunnel boat racing makes "driving by committee" in offshore look like a bus ride.....especially when the offshore crews wave and carry on as they pass the start finish line. How can you be driving at anywhere near ten tenth's...if you are looking for your girlfriends face as you "race" by?

Hey guys,

Jay Price is quite obviously a talented tunnel-boat racer. But he's also a man of great humility, good humor and unfailing optimism. I can't remember anyone who was more of a pleasure, make that a privilege, to interview. He's featured in the "Timeout" department in Powerboat's March issue.

Hi Matt:

I liked the interviews with Jay and Terry Rinker. Perhaps it's time you did an interview with Boat Racing's version of "The King"............ Bill Seebold?

He is, perhaps, the greatest boat racer of all time worldwide. In addition you might want to do a series posthumously on the greats who have passed on........ Starting with Bill Sirois who IMHO was every bit the equal of Seebold.

In any case...warmest regards my friend,

Rich,

I've interviewed Bill Seebold several times over the years but perhaps it's time to revisit him. I have to admit I get nervous when I interview Mr. Seebold because I consider him to be a true celebrity. When I was a kid (OK, younger) I remember watching him wax the field on national television. And he is, as I'm sure you'll agree, one of the most easygoing, humble people you'll ever meet.

Bill Sirois was before my time, but I actually ended up writing his back-page obituary in Powerboat when he died. From what I could gather he was as good as offshore throttlemen get and, like Jay Price and Bill Seebold, humble.

People often mistake humility with lack of ego. All of these guys have egos. But they let their performances do the talking and credit everyone who helped. That's humility and, in my view, class.

Like a 24 Skater, humility never goes out of style. But I digress.

Great hearing from you, as always.
