Turbine guys: I have a curious question

What would be ballpark to power this boat with a relatively low stress power train? The inland poker runs, and even Key West through the bay would be unforgettable experiences. :drink:

Cool boat....lots of nice boats on that site.

You would need the gearbox for the boat also as your starting point.

Then anything can power it essentially.

Look for a T55 L11C (which is what they use currently) a 2,850 flat rated engine.

Fuel tank capacity might be your biggest obstacle though. The are setup for a 5-6 lap race and that last what? 15 minutes?

Gearbox.. Leyland and Elstrom make them. $$$$$$ Engine, look for $90-100K for the engine with the Fairlane shafts.

The big problem is it doesn't have any room for all those beautiful honeys you have hanging around. :drink:

If you don't want to race, rig it up with a T53 and SCS Gearbox has the entire drive assembly.

It would be a showstopper.

As cool as it would be I don't think it's going to like big water and stuffing that thing into a 5 foot wave may get a little hairy. Even the inland PR I have been in get rough maybe just set it up for Kilo runs first thing in the morning.

And the no room for the cicks is a deal breaker.

It depends on How fast you want to go. The T55 L 11 is probably over over kill and is rated at 3750 Max HP, we have a couple if your serious. I will sell at 125k

Rik meant the T55 L7-C 2850 - hp (Race version 150- 200k)which is the current engine for Ulimited class Hydroplanes is readly availible and the ideal engine for the boat. However, Im sure you could configure it to take the smaller 1450 hp l-13 marine setup can be had for aprox 85k. the rest gearboxes props are subject to your demands.

If you are serious call turbine marine and they could have you running in no time.

Good luck

Tracy at Whispering Turbine is the guy to speak to.

That boat rigged with any variation of the t55
will be a handful in the waters you run in.

Sure is a cool boat for sure!

Just an idea, but if you just want to run around at Poker Runs and not race, why not a merc 1075 or some other motor??

I do think this will be a very hard boat to sell, 375K so basically you looking at 500K to have a running usable boat, I mean for real how much would it cost to just build one????

Seriously Hafl million $$ boat, seats ONE, range 20Miles, Kind of like selling a funnycar with no motor???

My question, is Bud getting out of Motor sports?? Or just retiring this baby??:evilb:

Isn't the answer to that, "As fast as possible at all times!" :evilb:
