Fountain buys out Hunter

Fountain powerboats announced today that it had purchased controling intrest in Hunter Yachts. While production will be transfered to the main fountain facilty, revisions in design are being anylised in CAD format, these changes include a stepped keel bulb, and adding a beak bowspurt. how these changes will effect PERF ratings is under review, but will not negatively effect existing boats.

Oh man.... now the 35 hunter will be a 38 Hountain. And it will have a "Beaksprit."

The fastest, safest, smoothest, best handling sailing vessels on the water. Sounds like a win/win

VtSteve 03-06-2009 11:35 AM

Yeah, real nice. Right up until they try to tack in a 15 knot wind port side, and those steps lose it. I'm never going to be a fan of a stepped Hunter, regardless of how big the beak is.

i heard they already broke the speed record for fastest monohull sailboat in the universe. they went through the down wind lure speed trap at 36.343235 knots.

Would you expect any less from Reggie?

I understand Reggie is also working on a way to harness all the "hot air" from the Fountain critics to push that number up even further. He feels that OSO critics alone could add as much as 9.269083 mph on an average day, if he can get them all on the upwind end of the course.

Are we talking about the regular hunter sailboats? Sort of the Kia of the sailing world?

VtSteve 03-06-2009 12:31 PM

This could be a huge cost savings for Fountain. Think of the money they save by not having chase helicopters doing race videos. They could even just have Reggie in a hanglider. He could take videos of the new Hountain passing the other racers before the start of the race.
