I think that they do not cast it because your leg is probably so swolen up that as the swelling goes down the cast would not do anything. That is what they told my buddy that broke his leg and they did not cast it.

Kirk, don't know how I missed this thread, hope you recover fully. I have been lucky to only break an arm snowmobiling once but have been in some awful close calls,as I get older I ride with more fear and respect of what can happen. It's eerie riding again after getting in a wreck,it seems like alot more goes thru your mind afterwards, winters over for us here now,I got alot of riding in for as much as I have to be at work,Smitty

You are the bionic man now. Does this mean you will be able to run 60 mph? Let me know if you need my SawZall skills for those long screws.

Get well soon Kirk.

I broke my ankle a few years back, 3 places. Got about 5-6 titanium screws. Had a cast on for a while but the swelling was so big, I felt my ankle and leg was inbetween two Bradley tanks on full throttle against each other. Once the cast came off everythng got better fast. Stay off and let it heal fully before you put any weight on.

Good luck.

Peter
