I see the top speed on theses boats, but my questions is, how do they accelerate from 30 mph and up? When I went to the Fountain factory to test my new boat, Brian Forhand said that sport boats take awhile to get up to speed. My boat with quad 350 outboards has very strong acceleration.

No doubt about it.

This is not an anti-Fountain statement, just a fact. It is not fair to compare a 38 Fountain to a 39 Velocity, 39 Hustler... The boat is nowhere near the size. Add a beak to one of those boats and they are 42's. The comparable boat is the 42 Fountain and we all know it. 42 Fountain pleasure version with 700's with a cabin runs in the 108 mph range I believe.

Crazy that a 42' pleasure will only go 88-89mph with staggered 525's. Hard to believe 20mph faster with 700's and 6's or NXT's????

Roger 03-11-2009 07:57 AM

Beak or no Beak the COAST GUARD classifies it as a 38 and WHO am I or you to differ with them. After all, all of the boat beaks NEVER touch the water. If its so important to measure length, then lets compare weight of all these boats. It is much more important. Most of all the other makers lighten up their boats to reach the speeds Fountains run. Our race 38 weighed 8300 pounds empty and ran 112.00 with 525s. The record is now 115 with a 42 (OK 40) with 525s. A 11000 pound O/L can not possibly run with a 9500 pound Sunsation with the same power. ECT.

sean stinson 03-11-2009 08:06 AM

All of them will run that fast as a matter of fact it doesn't matter what power you put in them they will all reach terminal velocity when you throw them out of a plane....:D:D:D

Gotcha

39 Rockit by Hustler

The 39 that we brought around to the Poker Runs last year was built as a promotiional boat only. We wanted to take the boat out and make sure there wasnt any issues before putting it out on the market. This is really our first year of putting this boat on the market and you will now start to see this model show up at the Poker Runs.

This is a true stock Mercury 700 boat with NXT1 Drives and top speed reached in the boat was 111.5 mph. The boat did 110 mph at the Rock The Bay Poker Run with 5 people and 110 gallons of fuel. There is not any whipple kit on this boat ( 5800 Rpm) . This boat runs at 5350 Rpm. Anyone who would like to Demo this boat or come for a factory tour, feel free to call me at 631-208-2933

If you would like to see the debut of this boat at the New York Poker Run. You can call Billy Frenz at +1(203)-532-1312 or email them at [email protected] and order a the DVD. The Rockit was 4th to the Tappanzee bridge with 5 people on board and 239 gallons of fuel on board ( full tank ).

Length: 39'11"
Beam: 8'8"
Dry Weight: 9800lbs
Cabin Height: 5'6"
Fuel Capacity: 239 US gallons

You can read the full performance test of this boat on page 22 of Poker Runs America Magazine. http://pokerruns.coverleaf.com/pokerruns/2008vol11/

For some detailed photos of the Rockit at the Miami show go to http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/h...ictures-2.html

I am not going down that path, the post was "Fastest mercury 700 vhull" Doesn't matter if its 12' or 50' , If Velocity has built a 32 with 700's "Stepp up" or if Hustler has built a 344 with 700??????

Until proven wrong, I stand by "we have a winner":ernaehrung004:

TUFFboat 03-11-2009 11:09 AM

We have been talking about a fast 700hp single project as well. I would agree that the Ilmor package is looking better than the Merc 700 package. Conservitive calculations say 110mph, but perhaps the greater efficiency of the Indy could get us more like 115.
We'll have to try it I guess.

Well C, how many OEM bulkheads were in JR's 50 Hustler after it essentially split apart.......2-3...in a 50 foot boat....?

I bet it does, but
we had a 34sf fountain trips try to sneak up on us getting on plane , we were in a AT33 525s, it was a joke we weren't trying and we left them in the dust, you guys with your trips and quads are nice fishing boats, tubing boats . but thats about it. I seen you guys going after each other on the fishing site about racing each other in cc boats fountain and yellowfin you guys are ruthless:nhl_fight::D , but I have never seen a cc win over sportboat. I ran against a yellow scarb 26 or 29 back in 05 going to cape cod canal they had twin 275s or 300s I just played with them and on the other side of the canal they had to turn around and go back cause they were slamming in to the waves I just cracked the throttles and laughed as I went to onset. oh I would say your fountain over the yellowfin. later

homesite 03-11-2009 08:27 PM

how fast is a AT33 525s?

We been testing props and my boat runs almost 90mph

Same here Artie, but it was that guy with the 38 Fountain with the Quad 300xs' (fastest cc kilo thing) on the NYC poker run when we were running the Gladiator. Bye bye!!!!:D:D

92 with out any prop testing..X is too low, gets up on plane way too easy..I say raise it 1/2" good for 3 mph...Im judging this on how my 37 AT reacted. Very nice boat. Jeff

NO MERCY 03-12-2009 01:02 PM

Of course the 35 lightning is going to be the fastest ... how can you even compare a ~32 foot boat to a true 39 or 40+ footer ?

The boats being compared here are apples to oranges anyway, different uses for different buyers.

Also, I think the #'s stated for the 42pr with 525's are exaggerated a bit.

There are a lot of new Hustler that run overseas. I sold more than two dozens during the last three years.

Yes, Adrenaline did build a single 700 with an NXT than ran out at 95 mph.

I was drooling all over the 39 Rocket at the Miami show. It was said to run 118. I also got a ride in the Rocket at the in water show. (Thanks guys) It was said to run 110 or 111. We saw 100mph, very easily, in 3-4' waves. Incredible boat!! The demo boat was setup with a little lower drive height. In those 3-4'ers the drives never left the water once. What a smooth ride. We were cutting the waves, not skimming the tops.
