Just FYI: He is the owner of Active Thunder, and "probably" knows a little about how this works.

It's irrelevant what someone "saw a guy do one time". It's illegal, wrong, shady, etc, which is what Bobby was looking for.

Haha, I know.....I know!

I was just hoping he didn't know that was Pat .

Sadly, sometimes people DO know that they are talking to an industry expert, but still try to argue instead of admitting that someone is more knowledgable about a subject than they are.

Boston Whaler in the 1980's was replacing hulls on a fairly regular basis for customers. If I am not mistaken their 25 foot models wood develop vertical cracks amidship. In addition because of their foam injection system, some of the rest of the hull sizes wouldn't get filled up with foam and were missed by quality control. The boats would be stripped of all their stuff and those parts were replaced on newer hulls. Don't know if they got old numbers or new numbers. You could ask on continuouswave.com. Their is a lot of knowledge there.

For the record, I knew he was with Active Thunder and I agree it is shady what is sometimes done. I am sure he knows alot more than me but I'm no rookie either. All I was trying to establish was that when I was working for a particular manufacture back then...I saw it done. It was not a rebuilt boat, but it was updated from one model year to the next.

Maybe you need to relax a bit.

Why then does Post #7 contradict Post #5?

Thanks in advance.
I have been told the percentage thing also, but I have personally worked at a marina where they replaced the hull and deck but put n all the riging, interior, and motrs and gave a new HIN...I think that is ok since it is a new hull....now that same manuf. replaced a hull but used the old deck on a different situation and still issued a new hin that is definatly questionable there.....and probably not agreeable....I also know of one I tore the bottom out of due to delam...and it was Magic...it dissapered for a couple years after going back to the manuf and then re-sold 2 years newer with the same paint, options, and interior???? things that make you go HMMM....
