where you at i des moines iowa.. i'm from there
most of the time they run from Hillsboro inlet down to the keys.. its not that far key largo and islamorda are good places to stop.. it's like 180 miles all the way down to key west.. so if you have enough fuel cells to run 80mph for two years your there
out of goverment cut it's even shorter like 100 mile.. soo

FL powerboat club always leaves from Govt. Cut (Sealine Marina/ Miami). First stop is Gilberts (some boats fuel) then off to Sunshine Key (30-35 miles N of Key West). Most boats fuel there (fuel trucks brought in for the occaision).
Other runs (like Winter Rally/ Boat Show PR) stop in a lot closer to Miami (Duck Key, Marathon/ Islamorada) so fuel refills are not an issue for most boats. They can do the run on a tank each way.
FPC leaves from Port Everglades (Ft Lauderdale) for the Bahamas runs but they are only 45-60 miles of running so fuel is not an issue unless you run to the Abacos but there are plenty of fuel docks along the chain of islands.
