Active Thunder vs Bayliner?

Lets here it; Can that new 37 AT in rough water, I mean 6-8's, really beat a 285 Bayliner with a 454-Bravo 3 set-up. Now I do not want all that AT cheerleading that is in every owner's forum, I want the facts. MIdnight

Ted G 03-19-2002 11:48 PM

You're going to have to get way more beligerent if you're going to get Pat to come off another 5 large:rolleyes:

mxz800 03-20-2002 12:02 AM

is price being taken into consideration or just ride quality speed and handling above 80 mph??

MIdnightRider 03-20-2002 12:04 AM

I guess I must be to poor to know what 5 large are, if that is a financial reference.

MIdnightRider 03-20-2002 12:11 AM

I'm really thinking overall speed and performance, the AT has been compared and is far superior than all boats I have seen it matched to, but I have not seen this comparison. And it is really coming down to decision time, and I just need a second opinion. Money is really not to big of an issue. Its just those carved lines of that 285 Bayliner vs the noted sheer performance of the AT. again I just feel unsure.

ViciousOne 03-20-2002 01:11 AM

I really think you should go for the BAYRAY!!!!!!!! Get the HP 500 in it though!!

Ike 03-20-2002 09:13 AM

IT was nice that Pat donated the money, maybe the owner of bayliner should donate 10,000 and everyone would buy bayliners:rolleyes:

Shorgasm 03-20-2002 10:10 AM

Okay DAMNIT.........who wants the first smack!!!!!!

Pure Energy 03-20-2002 10:18 AM

This is very childish. I can't understand why it bothers some people that AT owners are happy with their boats and want others to have the same experience.

JFM311 03-20-2002 10:28 AM

Have the same experience?--sounds like pushing someone into being a JAHOVAS WITNESS

32fever 03-20-2002 10:56 AM

But how do we all know that AT actually DID donate the 5K? Not calling anyone a liar, just saying, we only know he made the offer.

And while many of you think that's a great gesture, which it is great to donate to charity, but he makes too much money on his boats if he can come off $5k that easy on a whim. That's a bad sign to me, he's gouging me on a new boat if he's got that much cash :D:D:D

Two ways to look at everything.....

And, don't buy nuttin' if it ain't got a beak, right Midnight aka smartass? LOL!

Wassup Shore? Wadn't me that time!!!!

Seriously though, it's all good. Nothing wrong with either boat. You'd be lucky to own either one.

Mark

audacity 03-20-2002 11:02 AM

now that was silly to say....if it wasn't profitable to make a boat???....who would!!!

supply and demand!...need i say more...to tell u the truth pat should and will charge more in the future!

CigDaze 03-20-2002 11:17 AM

Sounds to me like a juvenile OL or Cig in the making...
...Wait a few years, the affordability factor will be non-existant.

And that's all I got to say on that. I'm stayin' out of the rest of this.

Just saying there are other perspectives. 4000 + members here, I'm not the only one thinking it, just may be the only one posting.

And Joe, well, you post many silly things.

My company gave a fair amount to charity last year, but I won't go giving money away on an unprofessional post on a website to prove some point. Just sayin.

You can thank Thunderdan, Jassman, and H2O Warrior for helping donate to WCC's charity contribution. How ironic is that? Guy bashes their boats, and they give them money, although indirectly.

Reggie, you OWE a LOT of people a LOT of money. LOL!

No big deal, Joe, just saying there are othe ways to view things. Not everything is as it may appear on the outside.

Shorgasm 03-20-2002 11:26 AM

Just like when mark bought his 32 Foot Fountain...

Imagine how pissed he was to find out it was only 28 foot!!!!!

You'd think ole' Reggie would have saved a lot of money shipping out only part of those boats.....DOH!!!!!!!!:p ;)

So Markie Mark level with us......when you told your wife way back when that you were packing 8 inches.........what did she say when you only produced 6!!!!!

;) sometimes i just miss pickin on those beak boats......:D

32fever 03-20-2002 11:31 AM

Oh, and for the record, not trying to ruffle feathers, I think AT makes a great boat, and I'd consider buying one someday along with Cig or OL or new Fountain.

However, I'm just merely stating that every time AT posts something, many people are quick to jump on the "AT is great" bandwagon without maybe thinking about other factors. I may not agree with all their marketing techniques (which is what I view the whole donation thing as), but that doen't mean I don't think their boats are kick ass and I'd surely consider buying one (just as soon as my wife lets up on her death grip around my neck...LOL!).

However they may not sell me one now after my posts...:D:D:D

Ahh, reminds me of the old days, Shore. LOL! I only told her I was packing 4 inches. She was still disappointed.

It's not big, but it sure is pretty.

LOL!

I don't expect everyone to understand. Especially a guy that leaves OSO to never come back and is now a moderator.

I would think the owner of active thunder could afford that easily, I know guys who drop that on a weekly poker game ( Troutly, you didn't hear that) TOO OLD this is getting ugly

I think he can probably afford it, he does own ACTIVE THUNDER,,,,,,,,, TOO OLD this is getting ugly

32fever 03-20-2002 12:03 PM

LIke I said Fred, some just won't get it. It's a marketing ploy, not a true selfless act of charity. If it was a true selfless act of charity, why would AT post it on this website. They could have PM WCC and done it that way.

They consistantly use this site for their marketing purposes AND IT WORKS. Too Old, you set the perfect example as to why. So naive.

I don't think donating to charity is bad. But this was not a complete selfless act of giving.

When you donated to the 9/11 efforts, did you post on OSO how much you sent? Why? Probably cause you have nothing to gain.

I have no bad blood against AT or anyone else (not even Shorgasm). But so many don't see the forest for the trees.

My company specifically stays off BB's that are related to what we do. There are countless reasons.

I have nothing against anyone here or AT, I'm just stating that I see it a different way. They could spend $5k plus on a full page ad in a magazine, or post here. Advertising. A charity benefits, which is AWESOME and my hats off to AT for deciding to do that with the money, BUT the way that whole thing came about and WCC being in the middle of it, well, I see through the "charity" and view it as marketing. And so many folks will not see it that way, but as a selfless act. If it was, they wouldn't be promoting product here.

The owner of Sunsation is on this board, too. How come they are so much more quiet and we're not reading about their donations?, (which they may have done and we never know.)

I don't expect it to make sense. I think differently than most. I'm all done explaining it, cuase if you don't get it yet, you never will, well, maybe someday when you gain experience on these things.

NOthing against you Fred, either, just making observations. Good luck on that Sonic project, and hope it goes smooth for you. Should be sweet when your done.

Anyway, everyone will take it as they will. Some Fred's way, some my way. Either way, a charity benefits (if indeed that did happen and WCC didn't pop up behind the scenes and we see him in a new AT next season....:)

ActiveThunderTodd 03-20-2002 12:08 PM

Man Pat is loving all you guys. How great is it that AT is kept at the top of this forum for almost a week now.

Before anyone starts to trash Pat about giving money to charity and that means he's charging too much for his boats you should get to know Pat and what else he's involved in. He's a ver very succesful business man in other areas than boating.

So if anyone else wants to start an "Active Thunder vs. ????" thread I'm sure Pat would love the free advertising.

Todd

If your a moderator, you can delete the post's that " OFFEND " you, without leaving...

ActiveThunderTodd 03-20-2002 12:14 PM

32fever,

please understand that all these threads were not started my AT or AT owners. As far as the charity is concerned, Pat made an offer to WCC to put up or shut up. WCC declined to disclose who he is, so rather than just put the money back in his own pocket Pat gave it away on behalf of WCC. Pat didn't have to tell what he was going to do with the money, but let me ask you this...would you have had more respect for Pat if you didn't hear about what he did, he keeps it quiet and every thinks that he was just grand standing and never indended to give that money away. I think we needed to know what happend.

audacity 03-20-2002 12:17 PM

i'm the first to admit i'm a big ol retard!!!

so when are we going to hook up 32??...

Jassman 03-20-2002 12:32 PM

What you fail to realize 32FEVER is, Cigarette Chump didnt go at Sunsation or anybody else, the jack ass went after Thunder. You stated how many times Pat @ THUNDER is on the board, why dont you look that up, its probably no more as an owner than the Sunsation owner comes on, maybe 35 times. I dont understand your babling, wishy washy bull****, (Im not as suave as Fred, I call it like it is:) )that when someone comes after your co, either put up or shut up. We know who the guy is, he's an impostor. Pat did a gracious thing, bottom line, you really need to know how generous the guy truely is. He cares very much about his companies, and say companies, more than 2, so can he afford it , thats his business, if he coundnt he never would have posted, or offered the guy a ride. Bottom line , before you assume , make sure you know what the hell your talkin about.:( I still hold no grudges to anyone,(except bull****ters and strokes) lifes to short, lets all get along, peace be with you and all that other stuff, hope too see ya on some PR.:D

ScreaminDemon 03-20-2002 01:21 PM

Only an idiot would take an "Act Of Kindness" of try to make evil out of it. Just lost all respect for anything 32Fever ever says.

Pure Energy 03-20-2002 01:22 PM

Hmmmmmm.....

Someone promoting/marketing their product.......

Someone making a profit selling their product.........

Someone donating publically to a charity........

People expressing satisfaction with that product......

32fever

I too don't understand why someone would do this  Makes no sense to me.

Shorgasm 03-20-2002 01:34 PM

What a second......if this Pat guy has all this money then let him "give' me an AT.........I'll back 'em up then.....:D :D :D

Come on buddy we'll call it charity........and I will tell everybody in the whole wide world that it's for the USSF.....you know who they are...... UNITED STRIPPER"S FUND OF FLORIDA.....

Wow this is gettin good.......Honey would you get me another beer please...?....

Look at that I even asked and said please!!!!!.

But on the seriuos side........come on give me an AT........:D

mxz800 03-20-2002 02:00 PM

so shor does this mean we have a bayliner owner wanting to stray to the other side?? I must say if Shor got his free AT they couldnt pay for a better customer to promote or DEFEND AT's bragging rights! Hey Shor you never know just ask Ted (inspectech)

liquid asset 03-20-2002 02:13 PM

It wasn't even Active Thunders idea for charity, TOO OLD said, If yo don't need the money give it to your favorite charity( directed to wcc) that doesn't sound like a plan to me ;)

MIdnightRider 03-20-2002 02:26 PM

I'm leaning a little toward Bayliner, that aft cabin does have it good qualities:D

Seriously, I was just joking around because these AT guys are all over the owner's forums. But like everything on this board lately everyone has to get all wound up. Relax, boating and talking of it are supposed to be fun.(Well other than the general boat owner headaches). Yes I own a Fountain, and yes its over measured by 10ft.:D But no matter what your in, whether its the 180mph Skater or the 20' Scarab, it beats being on the pier wishing you had a boat.;) MIdnight "smartass"

audacity 03-20-2002 02:30 PM

that was well said MR...my thoughs exactly!!

you know pat....saturday night live,,,right???

worldchampioncigarette 03-20-2002 08:18 PM

Okay kids, 3 things:

1) Wheres generous Pat on this post?

2) Wheres His proof that he really donated that money?

3) He conviently never responded to me about the 2 minutes he gave me to comply to his generous offer. I dont sit there watching the post minute by minute. So lets start with the proof.

Ted G 03-20-2002 08:44 PM

Okay WCC

Here is your chance!!!!!

Pat is on another thread talking about what his and AT's role should be on this board.

Now I suspect that most of the posts will tell him to stay and participate as much as he (they) want.

BUT...... your mission-if you decide to accept it-is to get on that thread and try to make a reasonable, well thought out argument for why Pat and Steve should just pack up and leave our happy little home. Then you can be happy not hearing from any of the manufacturersor other technically qualified people and instead just throw a bunch of insults around and talk about who's d*ck is bigger and boat is (supposedly) faster.

ActiveThunderTodd 03-20-2002 09:31 PM

I think its time we just leave worldchumpcig to his own little pathetic world. he's just trying to cause trouble. so lets not post in reply to his crap anymore. if everyone ignores him then maybe we can have intelligent conversation about boats and not fight about who's is what and mine is ..... yours and yours ...mine and all the other nonsense.

those of us on here who just plain love boats would love to see pics, talk with others about boats and meet up and run together.

have fun and lets go boating

Todd
